Doctor of Audiology
A Career Developed From the Love of Sound
“One of the biggest influences in my life has been music. I played trumpet and piano at a young age, and continued that interest with classes in music theory and acoustics. When I was introduced to the field of audiology in college, I found it interesting that sound could be so specifically manipulated in order to help people hear better. It was wonderful to be able to combine my love of music and sound with my desire to help others, especially in an area so special to me.”
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Speech & Hearing Science, and Linguistics, University of Iowa; Doctorate in Audiology, Salus University
Contributions: Developed an auditory rehabilitation program for patients to more effectively use their hearing devices; Participated in research to measure attention, using auditory evoked potentials. Also measured hearing pathways beyond the brainstem using the same technique, finding norms for children’s populations
Personal Interests: Music, rock climbing, mountain biking and kayaking
Working Together Towards Success
“As a hearing care professional, I feel my most important role is as an advocate, working together with my patients toward the common goal of better hearing. Every hearing impaired person experiences sound differently, so the best option for one person may not be suitable for another. By working together, we can find the most appropriate hearing solution for each individual's needs, and learn how the hearing instruments can help the patient hear to the best of their ability in various environments.”

A Tradition of Helping People Hear Clearly
“Hearing Care is advancing faster than the speed of sound. Breakthroughs like digital and wireless technology are assuring people a richer, more pure sound quality than ever before. That’s why I never stop training. I know how much depends on your hearing. I want you to know your hearing can depend on me.”

A Heart You Can Trust
“People with hearing difficulties retreat into isolation, enduring sounds of silence instead of enjoying their grandchildren’s giggles. That’s why I regularly speak at seminars and senior communities. Some patients won’t reach out for the help they need. I make sure it reaches out to them.”
Lecturer: Seminars and area senior communities

“I’ll never cut you off in the middle of a sentence, talk to your spouse instead of you, or make an adjustment in the programming of your instrument without explaining it to you first.
What I will do is listen to you, learn from you, and involve you in the process. It’s the only way to know which technology is really right for you.
I’m proud of the credentials on this page. They reflect my commitment to keeping abreast of the latest breakthroughs in hearing care. I never forget that a professional’s personal qualifications; thoughtfulness, compassion, and dedication make the biggest difference in your world full of sound.”
Ashley Wright, Au.D. Doctor of Audiology
A PASSIONATE JOURNEY
“When I was seven years old I suffered from ear infections resulting in a perforated eardrum. I underwent multiple surgeries throughout the next 10 years to repair it. Today, I have a mild hearing loss in my right ear. My personal connection with hearing loss drew me to pursue Audiology. It allows me to relate to the daily communication challenges my patients are experiencing. It is the reason I have passion for the field of Audiology, and a commitment to my patients to help them achieve a better quality of life”.
TRAINING TO PROVIDE QUALITY CARE TO PATIENTS
“I completed my audiologic training at many locations around the Phoenix area. My last year of training was spent at the Veterans Affairs in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This experience allowed me to meet and hear the stories of many generations of men and women who served our country. I was able to help Veterans’ and their families improve communication by using advanced hearing technology , assistive devices, and effective communication strategies”.
COMMITTED TO EVERY INDIVIDUAL PATIENT
“No individual and no hearing loss is the same. This is why it is so important to get to know you! I truly enjoy getting to know my patients to determine the best solution for each patient I see. I am passionate about following evidence-based practice, and I enjoy keeping up with the most recent research in Audiology to ensure I am providing you with the best hearing solutions possible”.

Participated in research at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System to develop criteria to determine if a cochlear implant evaluation referral is warranted based on the relationship between hearing test results and word recognition scores
Conducted research to evaluate the ability for normal hearing adults to learn new words, and measured their ability to retain the learned information the following day given numerous trials. The results from this study were used in additional projects to help determine single-day learning capacity in children with hearing loss
Examined the benefits of listening and learning when surgically implanted with a bone-anchored hearing aid vs. using a soft band in the pediatric population.
