Anthony Higgins is a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist credentialed by the State of Illinois. He has been working in the healthcare industry for the past 10 years and has a degree in Healthcare Administration from Purdue University Global.
In his personal life, Anthony has seen how hearing loss can impact families and can take a serious toll on the individuals afflicted by it. During his youth, his grandmother started to go through what seemed to be a cognitive decline but was later diagnosed as hearing loss. This memory was the catalyst that inspired Anthony to begin his career as Hearing Instrument Specialist and influences his relationship with the patients at Hearing Health Center. He strives to always serve them with the care and compassion that he would wish for his own grandmother.
At Hearing Health Center, Anthony particularly appreciates the relationship of the practice to every major Hearing Aid Manufacturer. He has the full range of the industry’s technology at his disposal to deal with every patient situation, and first access to every new product development because of our status as a major beta site.
When he’s not practicing, he enjoys camping and hiking, baking and going for long walks on the lake shore with his girlfriend and two golden doodles, Archer and Murphy.

“This is somewhat a tale of the pandemic. My mother has been a client here for awhile, as was my father. We’d been enjoying not having to show up every month for her Lyric replacements, & we let the fine-tuning slide with her new brand, as it only required a battery change at home. Then Covid hit. After several months of lockdown, her 1st outing was to Hearing Health. When you only have the phone for contact & your hearing aids aren’t working, it’s bad. Unfortunately the test in the soundproof booth was a bust, & we were told that unfortunately there was nothing to be done but turn up the volume. I had just read an article about the critical effect hearing loss has on cognition, so I called back. At that point we were introduced to Dr. Emily Trittschuh. Dr. Emily, it turns out, had trained at a pediatric hospital, & she brought all of her specialized experience to bear on my mother’s hearing test. The standard system hadn’t worked, so the doctor invented methods which worked for my mother. On the spot. And remember, we all had on masks, so the visual part was gone— no lip reading, facial cues, etc. She was creative, innovative, resourceful, patient, precise; her professional experience & personal sensitivity enabled her to improvise new methods of communication and, lo & behold, she succeeded in extracting ALL the information she needed to reset every single value in those hearing aids which could help my mother hear. Not just the volume. As I watched this maestro work her magic, I burst into tears. You don’t realize the terrible stress of what is, in effect, the loss of a relationship because of technical difficulties! Until you realize that you’re going to get it back. Over the years we have had one audiologist pay a house call to my dad in the hospital, one do a curbside removal of my mom’s Lyrics prior to an MRI, & Dr. Emily is now working with the manufacturer to optimize settings for the technology of my mother’s landline. Even Jennifer & the receptionists are lovely~ pre-Covid, they baked you cookies in the waiting room! I can’t recommend Hearing Health Center, and especially Dr Emily Trittschuh, enough. ”
“Beginning in 2018, in the course of four (4) visits, or so, I've been satisfied with services from Hearing Health, downtown, Chicago. However, my recent visit, August 24, 2020, was exceptionally notable. Audiologist, Elizabeth Matthews' friendly and welcoming disposition in conjunction w/her knowledge and professionalism made for an exceptionally pleasant experience.”
“I booked an appointment and was told bring a doctor referral and they would charge my insurance. When I got there I was told I should a prescription letter and I would have to pay $3000 upfront. A shambles with high recommendations by tv and radio. A poor minus from me.”
Received 08/31/2020Official Response from Hearing Health Center - Chicago:“John, First, let me say that we work very hard to provide the best care and service possible. I cherish, and take great pride in our overwhelmingly positive reviews. That being said, sometimes, we mess up. John, in your case, we messed up big time. Nearly everyone with whom you spoke or met dropped the ball somewhere. Since reading your review, I have relentlessly pursued and investigated what happened and where we went wrong. We, Hearing Health Center, and I personally, are renowned for being brutally honest and totally transparent. I just want you to know that your poor experience is not dismissed or taken lightly. If I were you, I would be outraged, upset and frustrated. You have every right to be angry. On behalf of my team, I apologize to you. Dr. Ronna Fisher, AuD, FAAA Hearing Health Center ”
