Dr. Mary Lou Carlson has been a clinical and dispensing audiologist for over 30 years. She is the owner and director of Wilks Hearing Center Inc. in Lawrence, New York.
Dr. Carlson received her Doctor of Audiology degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences. She is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association and the American Academy of Audiology. She is a board certified through the American Board of Audiology.
Dr. Carlson is passionate about helping her patients hear their absolute best. She is well versed in a variety of testing techniques as well as all phases of digital hearing aid fittings.

Dr. Wilks began operating Wilks Hearing Center in 1978. The practice was founded by his father in 1952. He received his Doctor of Audiology degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences.
After a long successful career, he sold the practice to his longtime, well respected colleague, Dr. Mary Lou Carlson. He now works on a part time basis to continue caring for his patients.

“I wear hearing aids in both ears because my hearing loss is mild in one ear and severe in the other. On Friday, 7/15/22, I suddenly noticed that the preprogrammed sequence of tones (that my hearing aids usually generate every time I close the battery compartment and put them in my ears) had gone dead quiet in my left ear. I called Wilks Hearing Center, explained the problem, and made an appointment for the following Friday (7/15). It turned out to be nothing more than a little bit of waxy build-up - easily cleaned. No muss, no fuss, no problem!!!!! WILKS HEARING CENTER ROCKS!!!!! ☝”

Our audiologists are licensed by the state of New York, certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association and knowledgeable in the latest developments and technology in hearing aids and devices. Our advanced training and experience will help you make the choices the best suit your individual hearing goals.

Our Farmingdale office is located in the office building next to Freedom Hair Salon with plenty of parking. You will find us in Suite 1F.
