HearingLife - Freeport

David “Dave” Colombo, B.A., is the hearing care provider at our HearingLife office in Freeport, Illinois. He received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University.

Before joining HearingLife, Dave spent two decades as the Clinic Director of a private practice audiology clinic, and as a territory manager for multiple global hearing aid manufacturers. His primary responsibilities involved training other hearing instrument specialists and audiologists in the fitting and dispensing of digital hearing aid technology. Dave is considered a technology expert and stays abreast of the latest developments in the hearing industry so that he can best help his customers on their journey to better hearing. According to Dave, “When people ask me what I do, I respond that I reconnect people with their friends and families.”

Dave is a published author and has lectured at universities across the Midwest on hearing aids, assistive devices and tinnitus management. He is a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist in the state of Illinois, and has served on the Board of Directors
of the Illinois Hearing Society. Dave resides in northern Illinois, where he lives with his wife, two cats, and a dog. Dave and his wife are parents to five boys, and enjoy live music, hiking, travel and dining.

Richard “Rick” Denis has had a passion for everything audio-related since he was a small child, whether it be music performance, music reproduction, or just the science of sound. In addition, he also has a passion for helping people. This led Rick to pursue a career in the hearing healthcare field. He completed his Associate degree from Harper College in 2017, then took hearing-related classes at College of DuPage in 2020. Since passing his state licensure exams, Rick has worked in the hearing care field and loves it. For him, there is no better feeling than seeing the look on a customer’s face when they experience an improvement in their hearing.
