“I do not often write reviews and rarely write negative reviews but my experience at Lake Audiology last week was so unsettling that I feel compelled to write this. I was a patient of Dr DeVore & when I called for an appointment I asked the scheduler if the dr would be able to help me, and the scheduler said she definitely would. I recently had cancer surgery and had upcoming appointments with the surgeon, oncologist, etc. I had a sudden large hearing loss and really wanted to be able to hear what the doctors at my upcoming appointments had to say. When I saw Dr DeVore last week she expressed no compassion or concern about my situation or a solution to my problem. When I asked questions about a treatment plan or solution, she told me all the ways she could not or would not be able to help me. At one point she answered my question by asking, “Are you a doctor?”!!!!! (No, but I am pretty knowledgeable about my own medical conditions.) She told me I had “a small window to get this fixed,” but did not give me solid information about how to make that happen. The friend that drove me to the appointment was in another room and could hear the whole conversation (What about HIPPA?). My friend said she was flabbergasted and angry about what the dr said and how she talked to me! I really didn’t need the doctor to say “Just turn up the hearing aide volume on your Signia app” (I use that app all the time when I wear my hearing aides.). I needed her to say something like “I can think right now of 3 good options for you when you leave here. There may be more but let’s look at these 3 right now that could help you.””
