Hello! I’m Dr. Jenelle Sandy, Au.D., CCC-A, and I’m proud to serve the South Lake Tahoe community as both a pediatric and adult audiologist. I grew up in Southern California and later in rural Maine, before spending time in Chicago and Northern California. From a young age, I loved caring for children, babysitting, volunteering, and helping families in any way I could. That early passion naturally led me to a career where I could support people through every stage of their hearing journey.
I completed my bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders at the University of Wisconsin Madison and went on to earn my Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. UNC’s highly regarded pediatric program shaped much of my foundation as a clinician, giving me a deeper understanding of the unique needs of young patients and their families.
After graduate school, I continued my training at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Working with children who had both hearing loss and complex medical conditions taught me how important it is to approach each child with flexibility, patience, and creativity. Those experiences continue to influence the way I practice today.
Even with the rewarding work I was doing, I found myself missing the mountains that were such a big part of my childhood. Returning to Tahoe brought me back to the outdoors, skiing, biking, and exploring the area with my spouse and our two children. Most importantly, it allowed me to serve a community that feels like home. I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to help both children and adults hear more clearly and stay connected to the people and experiences they love.

Hi, I’m Dr. Olivia Vinup, Au.D., CCC-A, an audiologist at Tahoe Family Hearing Clinic. I first joined the team as an extern in July 2024 and transitioned into my full-time role in August 2025. From the start, I felt closely aligned with our mission of offering compassionate, individualized hearing care to the South Lake Tahoe community.
My interest in audiology began with a love for American Sign Language, which helped me understand the importance of communication, sparking a desire to support others in staying connected. I earned my Doctor of Audiology degree from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona, following my bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorder, with a minor in Psychology from Northern Arizona University.
Throughout my clinical training, I gained experience in a variety of settings, including private practices and ENT clinics. I also loved participating in community outreach efforts, such as school hearing screenings and volunteering with the Special Olympics.
I value the meaningful relationships I build with my patients. Hearing care is personal, and I’m passionate about making people feel heard, understood, and supported at every step. I’m also developing further expertise in vestibular testing and tinnitus management to better serve our patients’ needs.
Outside of the clinic, I’m happiest exploring all the beauty Lake Tahoe has to offer. I moved here to be closer to family and quickly fell in love with the mountains, open spaces, and peaceful sunsets.

Premier Family Hearing Services For All Ages
Adult Hearing Services - Hearing can change gradually, and regular screenings help detect concerns early. By age 50, annual hearing tests are recommended. Tahoe Family Hearing offers extended appointment times using both objective and subjective tests to understand your communication needs, measuring what you hear and how well you understand speech in different listening environments. Our comprehensive testing process can include:
- A review your hearing and health history
- An outer ear examination (otoscopy)
- Middle ear testing, including tympanometry and acoustic reflex measurements
- Inner ear evaluation using otoacoustic emissions (OAE)
- Behavioral hearing assessment with pure tone and speech audiometry
- Extended high frequency audiometry when appropriate (for tinnitus concerns or patients at risk
Pediatric Hearing Services - We welcome famalies into a warm, child friendly environment with colorful artwork, toys, and a compassionate team. We evaluate newborns, toddlers, schoolage children, teenagers, and special populations using age appropriate activities that keep children engaged. We offer a wide range of pediatric hearing services, including:
- Review of your child’s hearing and health history
- Outer ear examination (otoscopy)
- Middle ear evaluation with tympanometry and acoustic reflex testing
- Inner ear screening using otoacoustic emissions (OAE)
- Behavioral hearing assessment, including pure tone and speech audiometry
- Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) for infants and toddlers (approximately 5 months to 2 years)
- Conditioned Play Audiometry (CPA) for young children (approximately 2 to 5 years)
Hearing Aid Services We customize your hearing aids using real-ear speech mapping and guided testing to match your lifestyle. Your devices are programmed specifically for you, with accessories available to improve hearing in any setting. Depending on your needs, your visit may include:
- Comprehensive hearing aid evaluations
- Hearing aid selection, education, and personalized programming
- Ongoing hearing aid care, maintenance, and professional cleaning
- Tinnitus treatment support and management strategies

Hearing Technology - Today's hearing technology includes Bluetooth connectivity batteries, automatic functionality and tinnitus masking. Bluetooth hearing aids connect to your smartphone for calls, music, and streaming. We also offer tinnitus ( ringing in the ears) masking devices for relief. At our South Lake Tahoe Hearing Aid Center, we provide options for every hearing loss, lifestyle and budget. Hearing aid brands we partner with:

Cochlear Implant Services - When hearing aids no longer offer sufficient benefit for hearing and speech understanding. The following cochlear implant services are available for patients of all ages:
- Comprehensive cochlear implant candidacy evaluations, including full diagnostic testing
- Coordination with cochlear implant surgeons and partnering facilities to support a smooth, team-based care experience
- Routine follow-up visits to support hearing progress, comfort, and confidence with the cochlear implant system
- Cochlear implant activation and personalized programming sessions
- Assistance with replacement parts, accessories, and device components
