“I found this audiologist for my child after looking for a place that made custom ear plugs, and was also aware of tinnitus and hyperacusis. After really really bad experiences with multiple ENTs who gave my already traumatized child (with reactive tinnitus and pain variant hyperacusis) even more trauma by telling her she was fine and there was nothing wrong with her, I was hoping for a miracle and I got one. This place is a godsend. Dr. Shannon was kind, listened to our concerns, carefully explained everything she was going to do, and the level of discomfort or pain (none) that was involved in making ear impressions, gave my child a choice of otoblocks (the plugs that stop the impression material where it needs to stop, explained the difference, and made her smile multiple times. My child's anxiety (after reading about other people's bad experiences and pain getting impressions done) was so high she almost threw up multiple times on the way there and started shaking in the car. But by the time Dr. Shannon was done, she was fine. Dr. Shannon (unlike the YouTube videos that demonstrate this procedure) was slow, careful and gentle, both in inserting the impression material, and in removing it. She checked before to make sure everything was okay and afterwards to make sure it'd stayed okay. She also understood that tinnitus and hyperacusis were real, and showed a deep understanding of how they worked. If we need anything in the future, this is the doctor we'll go to. I can't recommend her enough.”
