Dr. Bruce joined Harbor Audiology in 2019. She holds both a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences, and a Doctoral degree in Audiology from the University of Northern Colorado. She is originally from Colorado, but is excited to be living in the Pacific Northwest and working at Harbor Audiology. Dr. Bruce is dedicated to the field of audiology and strives to improve the lives of patients and families through better hearing health care. She is a member of the Audiology Speech Language Hearing Association, and holds a certificate in Animal Audiology where she has spent time testing both dogs and horses.

“I felt very comfortable with front office staff and with Sherri's exam. The one thing that struck me as odd and frankly, unacceptable, was how Sherri went right to "selling" me new hearing aids after my exam. With my current hearing aids laying on her desk, she dailed to check them out first before recommending which ones I sould purchase. She began her recommendation with the to of the line hearing aids. My out of pocket would have been $2500, of which I do not have the money. As I considered purchasing the Essential level, I inquired of Sherri where my current hearing aids rated. She told me they were premier and after looking them up, realized I had a 3 year warranty on them. I asked her about updating them and the cost to do so. She said there was no cost to update them and continued to do so. I question that this wasn't her first choice vs selling me new of a lesser quality. I assume because, if she were to sell me new ones, then the provider receives a $300 =+/- payment from the manufacturer. This doesn't seem to be the right thing to do, especially in the medical field, when the best service was to tune up the ones I already had and had warranty on.”

Providers who have earned the Inspired by Ida label have taken courses online at the Ida Institute. To earn the label, a provider must take two specific courses that outline best practices for putting the patient first. Clinics may display the Inspired by Ida label if the majority of their providers have earned the provider label. The Ida Institute is a non-profit organization that develops resources to help hearing care professionals around the world strengthen their counseling process.
