“I made an appointment for an opinion from a specialist on a hearing loss. I had many procedures done through my family doctor. First thing there they did not send me to the physician but to an audiologist for a hearing examine and an overview of hearing aids available. Again this was before I was seen by a physician. I had brought a recent audiology test with me. I was already concerned about Medicare coverage. I told the physician I didn't want anything done not covered by medicare. He wanted to run some blood tests to rule out hearing loss caused by other diseases, a long shot. To my dismay not covered by Medicare so secondary insurance will not cover either. My family doctor always knows what is covered by Medicare or not. Now I am receiving a bill for $263.00, with as far as I can tell no adjustments. I will pay the bill because of the hassle. It goes back to if Medicare does not cover it I do not want the procedure. Very disappointed with the experience. ”

In these tests, the patient wears earphones and responds to sounds heard. Hearing evaluations for infants and children include monitoring for visual clues.   Hearing Aids If you or a loved one is diagnosed with hearing loss and could benefit from hearing aids, Boys Town audiologists will custom-fit the right device for the patient’s needs. A wide range of manufacturers and options are available to find the best hearing aid solution for each individual patient.   We can also provide custom ear molds for cell phones and other personal listening devices, Bluetooth- and FM-system compatible hearing aids and assistive listening devices for television and telephones.
