Personal experience with a unilateral hearing loss and tinnitus led Dr. Kathleen “Kate” Coates to become interested in the field of audiology. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Hearing Science and a minor in Aging at The Ohio State University, then pursued her education to earn her Doctor of Audiology at the Northeast Ohio Au.D. Consortium which consists of the University of Akron, Kent State University and the Cleveland Clinic. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech and Hearing Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Having fallen in love with North Carolina during an externship, Dr. Coates enjoys running, kayaking, hiking, and attending the wonderful local festivals and events that the state offers.
Dr. Leah Fleischhauer earned a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Disorders and Spanish Language & Literature at North Carolina State University. She continued her education and earned a Master of Education degree in Audiology at the University of Virginia and her Doctor of Audiology from A.T. Still University. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech and Hearing Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. With over two decades of experience, she is committed to working closely with each patient and is knowledgeable in the latest technology and advancements in the field. Away from work, Dr. Fleischhauer enjoys teaching and practicing martial arts.
Dr. Nicolle Yopa earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences at Ohio University and her Doctor Audiology degree at the Northeast Ohio AuD Consortium (NOAC). An externship working with patients of all ages at Charlotte Eye Ear Nose and Throat Associates brought her to North Carolina and where she quickly came to enjoy the area. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech and Hearing Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Her involvement with hearing healthcare started at an early age as she has an extensive family history of genetic hearing loss. Now living in Raleigh, Dr. Yopa enjoys all that North Carolina has to offer including trips to both the beach and the mountains.
