Dr. Jane Baxter has been co-owner of Pacific Hearing Service since 1986. Her early interest in audiology was sparked by teaching deaf children in a K-3 class in her first year after earning a teaching credential at UC Berkeley. She earned a master’s in audiology at San Francisco State and, later, a doctorate in audiology from Salus University. Prior to PHS, Jane worked at Stanford University and the VA.
She participates in clinical trials, beta testing of new technology and collaborative clinical research. She served as treasurer of the California Academy of Audiology. Jane is on the board of directors of the Entheos Audiology Cooperative and is chair of its Best Practices Committee. Her latest passion is participating in humanitarian trips to provide hearing health care to people in Africa, the Middle East, and South America. She is the co-founder of the nonprofit Pacific Hearing Connection, which serves people in the Bay Area who otherwise do not have access to hearing care. At PHS, Dr. Baxter strives to develop and maintain a practice that offers a welcoming environment while providing the best care possible.
Jane is part of a long line of professionals dedicated to the needs of those with hearing impairment. Her grandfather, Frank Baxter, M.D., was the first Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat physician in the East Bay. Many people in the community remember her father, William Baxter, M.D., who retired from his Ear, Nose and Throat practice in Los Altos in 1998. Her daughter, Dr. Ariel Fruendt, joined the audiology profession in 2013 and is on the audiology faculty at Northwestern University.
Dr. Lisi joined Pacific Hearing Service in January 2007. She obtained her master’s degree in audiology from San Francisco State, where she received the Distinguished Achievement Award for Academic Excellence. She earned her clinical doctorate degree in audiology from the University of Florida in 2008. She is certified by the American Board of Audiology, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, and has researched music-related hearing loss and its secondary effects.
Peg is passionate about the counseling aspect of working with her clients. She leads the amplification workshops in the Menlo Park office where she says she learns almost as much from her patients as they do from her.
In addition to being an audiologist, Dr Lisi is a trained musician and singer. She has sung with regional opera houses and orchestras throughout the Unites States and is currently a professional member of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. Because of her musical background, she brings to her practice a unique perspective on fitting hearing aids on musicians and music lovers alike.
Dr. Rebecca Dolan joined Pacific Hearing Service in January 2017, bringing over 16 years of audiology experience. Prior to PHS, she also worked at an ENT clinic and later as an outside field representative for a hearing aid manufacturer. This gave Dr. Dolan inside knowledge of how hearing aids are made and the research involved in advancing hearing aid technology. Dr. Dolan helped found the “Talking Heads” sign language group at California State University, Chico. She received her Master’s degree from California State University, Long Beach and her doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) from University of Florida. As Dr. Dolan is a hearing aid wearer, she is passionate about hearing aids and aural rehabilitation. She enjoys helping her patients to hear better, understand their hearing loss and how to best communicate with those around them.
