Mt Hood Hearing

Vlad is a highly accomplished, Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist whose background uniquely blends sound engineering, hearing healthcare, and patient-centered care. Raised in Venezuela, he developed an early passion for music and sound production while studying audio engineering in Caracas. He later continued his education in Barcelona, Spain, completing a sound technology program and gaining hands-on experience with a local hearing aid manufacturer, where he developed expertise in hearing technology production and service.

After relocating to the United States with his wife, Vlad settled in Portland, Oregon, where he trained at a hearing clinic and earned his Hearing Instrument Specialist license. In 2004, he co-founded Mt. Hood Hearing, where his extensive education, training, and certifications have played a key role in the practice’s long-standing success.

Vlad holds National Board Certification through the International Hearing Society and is both a Tinnitus Care Provider Certified professional and a Certified Dementia Care Practitioner. He currently serves as president of the Oregon Hearing Society and sits on Oregon’s Advisory Council on Hearing Aids. His collaboration with Dr. Keith Darrow, PhD, on the neuroscience of auditory–brain connections further enhances his clinical expertise.

Committed to utilizing advanced tools and evidence-based techniques for hearing loss correction and management, Vlad consistently achieves high patient satisfaction. His innovative approach and individualized care have a meaningful impact on the lives of those he serves.

Beyond his professional work, Vlad channels his creativity into the music industry, having co-written and self-produced multiple electronic music albums featured on streaming platforms and television. Fluent in Spanish and currently learning Japanese, he values global cultures and connections. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, watching sumo, camping, hiking, and helping operate “La Arepa,” a family-owned restaurant celebrating traditional Venezuelan cuisine.
