Dr. Nuffer is an audiologist originally from the Kansas City Metro area. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of the Arts (B.A.) degree in Speech-Language-Hearing. He then went on to earn a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from Missouri State University. Dr. Nuffer also has prior experience from time spent working closely with an Otolaryngologist in a hospital setting to help both pediatric and adult patients with hearing, balance, and tinnitus. Dr. Nuffer moved from the Midwest to Florida in 2019 and has been enjoying it ever since. His journey into the field of audiology first began right around the same time that his grandparents began wearing hearing aids. He first observed audiology at the practice where his grandparents received their care, and he had the honor of serving his grandfather in that clinic. Dr. Nuffer bore witness to and was personally involved with the blessings that came from his grandparents’ ability to hear and function better. The change was dramatic and positive, and it inspired Dr. Nuffer to serve others in helping to gently lead them to that place of better hearing and living.

“Dr. Jake and Ella were wonderful! Never had a hearing test before, the experience was amazing. Dr. Jake took the time to explain everything in great detail. He took the time to answer every question , none were too small or frivolous. Thank you to Dr. Jake and staff. ”
“I highly recommend Dr. Jake Nuffer AU.D. to anyone seeking a meticulous hearing assessment and conscientious remediation of hearing loss. The office operates efficiently, but there is no situation where you will feel rushed or feel like you have questions that weren't answered. Dr. Nuffer has the education, training and experience to provide you with hearing care and solutions that you will be happy with. Absolutely five star service!”
“The staff and Dr Jake are excellent. I am very pleased with the care and service I have received. Thank you all!”
“I cannot use these new hearing aids, I cannot hear. The audiologist did not take enough time to adjust them and really rushed me out of the office after an hour because he had other appointments. I don't like paying $4,250 and not getting proper service and also not hearing. Said he took an extra 10 minutes with me but that is not fair considering the cost of this and I have said it would take me longer to have hearing aids adjusted properly because I have had experience with that in the past. I have an appointment in a week to adjust them but why would I take a week and not hear.”
Received 01/16/2024Official Response from Palm Beach Hearing Associates - Wellington:“Sandra we are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your visit but we would like to explain the process of the 3rd party that you purchased your hearing aids through which is Hear.com. Hear.com books an appointment for you with our practice after doing the consultation with you over the phone. Typically these appointments are booked for an hour which most of the time will provide sufficient amount of time for testing and fitting. In rare instances patients require additional time and as a result we need to schedule a patient to come back for a follow up as only an hour was booked initially. We cannot predict in advance if a patient will require additional time for the fitting. Our goal as a company is to provide the highest quality care for patient and sometimes that requires patients to come back for an additional visit. It was never our intention to have you come back and to try to inconvenience you and we hope that your hearing needs were addressed. ”

Hearing evaluation/test - Is the first step in diagnosing your individual needs. Diagnostic hearing evaluations are painless and take only about an hour of your time. After your evaluation is complete, we will spend some time discussing the results. These are some of the exams we include in a diagnostic hearing evaluation:
- Air conduction testing (pure-tone testing)
- Bone conduction testing
- Speech testing
- Tympanometry or acoustic emittance testing
- Otoacoustic emissions (OAE) screening
- Auditory brainstem response (ABR) and auditory steady-state response (ASSR) testing
For most people, the first three or four tests are used in diagnostic evaluations. These test enable us to determine both where you are hearing well, and where we may need to focus treatment.
