“After several years of denial, I asked my physician for a referral to evaluate the extent of my hearing loss. He suggested Florence Hearing and I was able to meet with Dr. Niemi shortly thereafter. She took great care in characterizing the loss and in learning about the way that I lived before presenting a range of options. Based upon what I felt was important, I was given a "try-out" pair of hearing aids with the suggestion that I use them in as many situations as possible to determine if they were suitable. Dr. Niemi encouraged questions and concerns and she did not waffle in explaining that my hearing would never be restored to that of a 20 year old. She was precise in her manner and always encouraging. I've been using the hearing aids for two months now and they are an inobtrusive part of my daily routine. Its nice to hear birds chirping, doors creaking, and not having to ask people to repeat themselves. This is why I have rated Florence Hearing and Dr. Niemi so highly. ”

“My hearing impairment was detected in the 1980’s, but audiologist’s at that time could not recommend a solution. Hearing aids were purchased in 1992, and again in 1998 with improved, but limited hearing quality. After relocating far from the providing audiologist, I had poor experience with the audiologists approached for hearing aid repair and adjustment, so the aids ended up in the night table drawer. Recently, more than 10 years later, thanks to my neighbor’s recommendation, I made an appointment with Dr. Sowards. She is superb. Her receptionist, Nichole is very warm and pleasant. “Dr. Sowards’ hearing evaluation was both thorough and educational. I saw her for a routine hearing evaluation and hearing protection as I’m hyper sensitive to sound in both ears and pressure in one. Foam and other types of plugs have never worked well, often coming out or muffling speech I needed to hear. As a birder and someone who loves music I’ve always tried to protect my hearing and needed better protection when drumming in a group. Dr. Sowards was accommodating and patient, giving me the time and several adjustments needed to make sure the molds of my attenuators fit perfectly in both ears and would function in a way that would be comfortable while protecting my hearing better.
