“By way of introduction, I am a retired law enforcement officer and I taught communication skills along with myriad curricula at the Community College level over twenty years. Throughout my professional tenure, I had the opportunity to experience great communicators and the opposite of that as well. Basic communication skills are easily taught; however, a desire to communicate can only come from within. At times, I feel that interpersonal communication is becoming a lost art. Seldom, these days, does one interact with an organization or individual that truly cares. Ms. Atwood's professional skills surpass any previous hearing specialist I have dealt with. She explained the process, step by step, in an extremely professional manner. I am sure you know how frustrating it can be to a hearing impaired person, when someone treats them with the condescension by not making eye contact or not clearly enunciating. Ms. Atwood was exactly the opposite. Her communication skills are far above the norm and her empathy for my impairment was unsurpassed. UpState Hearing is to be commended for employing someone if Ms. Atwood's caliber. Please let her know how much her professionalism, empathy, demeanor and communication skills meant to me. ”
