Unbeknownst to me,
I gradually developed a permanent slight hearing loss, prior to college, through noise exposure from musical instruments. I was told by others that, "those instruments can be loud", but I did not fully understand the effects of cumulative noise exposure. What I needed was education on hearing conservation.
Now as an Audiologist,
It is my mission to empower others with this knowledge as well as improve the quality of people's lives and relationships by facilitating better hearing and communication. I am qualified to provide appropriate amplification solutions for patients of all ages.
I am a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology as well as an associate of the American Speech-Langauge-Hearing Association. My other passions include being an active contributor in my community and church, enjoying my family and friends, and songwriting. I love to experience the outdoors through activities such as mountain biking, golf, running and snowboarding.

“Having a sudden hearing loss can be quite traumatizing. As I can speak for myself waking up one morning and losing hearing from one ear is quite alarming. After 4 months and four “specialists “ in hearing loss had pretty much given up on my left ear , I was resigned to accept the prescription of a cross-over hearing aid, and see Dr. Recher for a fitting. All I can say, is that he is a people person who will listen to your personal story, take your wishes and hopes into consideration to try and find the best solution for your particular hearing problem. We are in the middle of experimenting with a dual ear hearing aid, which boosts the frequencies that are still tangible in my “deaf” ear, giving me hope that my life will still be in stereo rather than mono. We connected on the love of music, the love of playing and singing with our guitars. I walked out of there with the first sense of hope since the onset of my condition. Absolutely know that you are in good hands by a caring human being who has your best interests at heart. Thanks Dr Tom as you answer to also. I’m so glad I walked into your facility.”
“Dr. Recher is extremely detailed and patient. He treated my Dad who has the cochlear implant so gentle and caring. I highly recommend him to everyone. Rare find these days. A person who cares”
“Dr. Recher is an exceptional physician who demonstrates professionalism at its best. I have been very pleased with the care provided to my father. Dr. Recher is very knowledgeable, understanding, personable and patient. He always remains conscious of my time and always makes sure my dad is comfortable & satisfied. Thank you ”
“Dr. Recher is exceptionally incredible at his job. He spent well over one hour even after his shift was over, trying various methods to remove my clogged ear and did not stop until it was completely clear. He also takes the time to listen to your concerns and offers helpful tips for taking care of your ears. If you're looking for a professional in Queens, I would definitely recommend him, as he is someone who is truly passionate about his job.”
“Dr. Recher, as far as I am concerned, is one of the best doctors in the medical field. I truly believe that his heart and soul is in his work and he truly loves giving his all to his patients. He is caring, knowledgeable and a real professional. I can't describe how happy I am that I decided to travel from Suffolk County to his office in Richmond Hill. During our initial telephone consultation, I had decided to make an appointment but then he informed me his practice was in Richmond Hill and I would be traveling from Suffolk County - nearly 50 miles. I was so disappointed but decided traveling almost 50 miles to see him was a bit extreme so I started looking for another audiologist in my area. I continued to think about our telephone conversation and how caring he was and that my initial instinct was to see him that I spoke to my ENT doctor as well as a dear friend who is also an Audiologist (but didn't take my insurance) and mentioned Dr. Recher - both who thought he was worth my traveling the distance. It was the best decision I ever made. If you are reading these reviews and deciding whether or not you want to see him, I can tell you that if you do see Dr. Recher you will be just as pleased as I am. His knowledge, experience and genuine caring makes him one of the best.”
