A message from A & E Audiology & Hearing Aid Center - Lancaster about COVID-19:
Dr. Kamal Elliot, Au.D.
Dr. Elliot founded A&E Audiology in December 2000 shortly after moving to Lancaster with her husband Michael and her two sons Andrew and Eric. A&E is named after her sons, who she enthusiastically describes as her “proudest accomplishments.” Dr. Elliot is passionate about her patients, her employees, and her community. She is the past president of the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology, and 2018 recipient of the Academy’s most prestigious award, the George. S. Osborne Award for contributions to the profession.
Why I Became an Audiologist:
“I initially started as an undergraduate in Speech and Audiology but realized fairly early that I received immense joy from working with people with hearing loss. I founded A&E Audiology with the goal of being able to bring quality audiology services to people in Lancaster County. My mission is to keep challenging myself and my staff to provide the best quality of care in a warm and compassionate environment!” ~Dr. Elliot
Dr. Jason Schmitt, Au.D.
Dr. Schmitt practices at our Lancaster office. He has multiple special interests, including the relationship between hearing and cognition, hearing instrument technology, and tinnitus. He has studied with some of the leaders in these fields and is excited to bring his knowledge to Lancaster County. Dr. Schmitt is originally from Edinboro, PA, located in the “snow belt” approximately 15 miles south of Lake Erie. He enjoys skiing, backpacking, homebrewing, triathlons, kayaking, and anything dealing with Penn State. He lives in Lancaster with his wife Jessica, a personal trainer and therapeutic support staff professional who is also from the Erie area.
Why I Became an Audiologist:
“I became an audiologist because I am passionate about improving the quality of life for individuals who experience hearing loss and tinnitus. I thoroughly enjoy working with both people and technology. Audiology offers a unique opportunity for me to create a positive and effective relationship between those two areas.” ~Dr. Schmitt

“My husband has dementia and does not communicate well. The audiologists we have seen were very patient with him. We have been patients of A&E for several years and we are pleased with their service.”
“I experienced partial hearing loss due to some surgery complications. The staff at A & E did a complete hearing evaluation and recommended a very non-invasive hearing aid. Now I can hear clearly again and be involved in conversations with business, family and friends. Glad to be involved again but the one draw back is I can't escape my wife's "honey do list" anymore with this excuse. Thanks Kamal and company for helping me out. ”
“Attentive. No pressure.”
“I appreciate the prompt identification and resolution of my hearing aid problem. Now I can understand better what people are saying without asking them to repeat themselves. Thank you.”
“Extremely helpful from 1st call to the office through the goodbye as I went out the door. Knowledgeable of the many ways one’s hearing affects one’s life and that there are Multiple options to deal with hearing loss. I would recommend them to parents who have children with multiple ear problems to baby boomers who are now suffering from hearing loss. Hearing loss affects everyone and it should be held to a higher regard as it can be debilitating and cause isolating by the one affected and alter his/her relationship with family members. ”
