Audiologist

Ms. Bethea received her B.A. in Speech Pathology and Audiology and a Master of Science degree in Audiology from USL, in Lafayette, LA. She also took several specialty classes in Audiology, such as Neuroanatomy, through LSU. She gained private practice experience through her graduate school externship prior to graduation and was employed in an ENT private practice while in graduate school. She then moved to Monroe, LA to begin her post graduate clinical fellowship year and employment at St Francis Medical Center, obtaining experience in both the hospital and rehabilitation center with head injured and stroke patients of all ages.

She was recruited by Ochsner Clinic of Baton Rouge to head the newly formed Audiology Department, focusing on diagnostic testing for hearing and dizziness. Within 3 years, she established the Hearing Aid dispensing clinic, which was her area of greatest interest. She also served as a clinical supervisor for graduate students from both UL and LSU.

After more than 22 years with OCBR, Yvette departed to establish her private Audiology practice, Associates In Hearing, LLC. This practice allows for focused time and attention on diagnosing hearing loss and addressing that loss through personal counseling and the use of prescriptive hearing instruments. Our emphasis will be on better understanding of the personal hearing issues of the individual as well as how the loss also affects friends and family members. In addition to establishing her private practice, Yvette also plans to continue her education beyond the classes she attends annually, by pursuing a clinical doctorate in Audiology.

“Ms. Yvette is by far the best Medical Professional I have ever had in my 67 years. She is very experienced and is what a patient looks for in medical help. She is very much into making sure you have exactly what you need for your hearing issues. She fitted me years ago with Oticon aids and I am 110 percent happy with her knowledge and service. I am about to get a new set of Oticon aids from her before years end. Experience, knowledgeable, sincere, and a pleasure to work with, if you want the best you can get, she is the audiologist you want!”

“I have been a patient at Associates in Hearing for nearly four months. I have been using hearing aides for over five years. Associates in Hearing (Yvette) is far more thorough than my previous company. She takes the time that is required to get the exact fit and sound quality that is unique to every patient. Yvette does everything that is required to make sure that you are completely satisfied with your hearing. I heartily recommend her! ”

“Don't go to a Big Box Store for your hearing aids. You'll be disappointed and it will be another three or four years before you seek out a hearing professional. Don 't lose all that time not hearing well. Go to Yvette first. Make an appointment and go now. You will not find a hearing professional more interested in successful outcomes for her patients. That's the bottom line. You want better hearing. She knows how to get it for you. These are sophisticated devices with technology that improves all the time. Manufacturers leapfrog each other. You can spend months of research trying to figure out which one is best for you at the moment, or you can make an appoint and go see Yvette. ”

“ I have been a patient of Yvette's for over three (3) years now and its been an amazing and enlightening experience. I didn't know what I wasn't hearing until Yvette tested me and helped me to comprehend just how bad my hearing really was! I now wear Hearing Aids in both ears and with the various programs available in the control App on my phone, I can hear in virtually every situation. If you even think you might be having trouble hearing, I strongly recommend a visit to Associates In Hearing with Yvette Bethea. You have nothing to lose and you may gain the ability to hear clearly once again. ”
