Melinda Heegel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Hearing from the University of Oklahoma in 1978. She completed her Master's Degree in Audiology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1980 and became the Audiologist at the South Dakota School for the Deaf in Sioux Falls. In 1990, Melinda practiced at North Central Head and Neck, which later became Midwest Ear, Nose and Throat. In June of 2012 she and her colleagues, Dr. Lindsey Koch and Dr. Kristen Kaufman opened Audiology Specialty Clinic. She is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), is a licensed Audiologist in the state of South Dakota, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (FAAA).
Kristen Kaufman grew up in Sioux Falls and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Augustana College in 1988. She was awarded her Master's Degree in Audiology from Idaho State University in 1990 and a Doctorate of Audiology from the Salus University of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and School of Audiology in 2005. Kristen joined Ear, Nose and Throat, PC (which later became Midwest Ear, Nose, and Throat) in Sioux Falls in 1990. In June of 2012 she and her colleagues, Melinda Heegel and Dr. Lindsey Koch opened Audiology Specialty Clinic. She is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), is a licensed Audiologist in the state of South Dakota, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (FAAA).
Dr. Lindsey Koch was raised in Chamberlain, SD and attended the University of South Dakota where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Disorders in 2006. In 2010, she earned her Doctorate of Audiology degree from USD. She joined Midwest Ear, Nose & Throat in 2009 during her clinical externship and joined their staff full-time in 2010. In June of 2012 she and her colleagues, Melinda Heegel and Dr. Kristen Kaufman opened Audiology Specialty Clinic. She is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), is a licensed Audiologist in the state of South Dakota, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (FAAA).
Melinda Heegel, Dr. Kristen Kaufman, and Dr. Lindsey Koch have a combined 55 years of experience in the hearing care field. We are autonomous professionals who diagnose and treat disorders of the auditory system. We provide audiological rehabilitation services to children and adults across the entire age span. We select, fit, and dispense hearing aids and related devices, and pledge to make every decision in favor of the patient.
Audiology Specialty Clinic offers a full-range of hearing health-care needs for the entire family including: Hearing Evaluations; Otoacoustic Emissions Testings; Tympanometry; Tinnitus (Ringing) Management; Hearing Aid Consultations, Hearing Aid Sales, Fittings, and Services; Real Ear Verification; Cochlear Implant and Bone-Anchored Device Programmings and Custom Ear Molds.
