West Michigan Hearing Services was started by Dr. Szumowski in 1985, having purchased the company previously known as Maico Hearing Aid Service from Clint Scobey. Maico Hearing Aid Service dated back to the 1940's, and we take pride in the number of patients who have been loyal to our company for all of these years. We have some patients who have used hearing aids for over 50 years, and have never gone to any other provider than us!
When Dr. Szumowski decided to begin his business, his vision was to build a practice small enough to maintain a highly personal relationship with his patients. He really had no grandiose ideas of multiple offices scattered across the state or country. Nor did he want to rely on advertising as a means of growing his business. West Michigan Hearing Services takes great pride in the fact that over 80% of all of our business comes from existing patients, new patients referred by our happy clientele, and patients referred through the medical community. At the same time, West Michigan Hearing Services has always strived to be on the cutting edge of hearing evaluation technology and hearing aids.
So that's the atmosphere of our office. Long-term relationships. Caring and empathic staff. The skills and attitudes needed to provide top-notch hearing care. A place you will enjoy coming to visit.
Mission Statement
West Michigan Hearing Services exists for the sole purpose of transforming the lives of our patients by improving their ability to hear the vitality of the world around them, and enabling them to communicate more easily and more clearly with people. We do this by focusing on our patient's needs and desires, exceeding their expectations with outstanding results, and building relationships through professional integrity.
