A message from Audiology Professionals - HearingLife about COVID-19:
Dr. Trygg grew up in northern Minnesota and moved to Oregon in 2014. She earned her BS degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences at the University of Oregon, and her doctorate at Pacific University. She has experience screening for, diagnosing and treating hearing loss for people of all ages. During her internships, she worked with individuals with middle ear disorders, individuals with cochlear implants, and performed vestibular evaluations. She is especially interested in tinnitus management, hearing conservation, communication strategies and environmental modifications to improve difficult listening environments.
Dr. Trygg is an artist in many mediums and enjoys painting, creating digital illustrations and animations, writing and playing music. She also loves canoeing when visiting her family in MN, and spending time with her talkative cat.
According to Dr. Trygg, “Hearing loss can cause everyday conversations to be frustrating and exhausting, often leading individuals with untreated hearing loss to withdraw socially. They may stop participating in conversation at the dinner table, meetings at work, or avoid challenging listening environments altogether. Social withdrawal or isolation impacts not only the individual with hearing loss, but their relationships with family, friends and coworkers. I help my patients stay socially active and maintain their interpersonal relationships by focusing on their listening goals and needs, teaching effective communication strategies and encouraging self-advocacy.”
Dr. Ross earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with dual majors in Linguistics and Communication Disorders from the University of Florida. After receiving his Doctor of Audiology degree, he was hired at UF Shands Teaching Hospital immediately upon graduation, where he provided evidence-based hearing healthcare to patients with special emphasis on tinnitus and sound tolerance disorders, as well as teaching doctoral-level courses in Amplification I and II and Advanced Amplification Technologies. In his free time, he enjoys walking the local trails when outdoors, and PC gaming with his partner when at home.
Dr. Ross believes that “Hearing is not only vital for communication, but also for personal safety and quality of life. When hearing is restricted, people need comprehensive assistance, and while hearing aids are often the best solution, they are never the only solution. I teach my patients about all available options to improve their functional hearing ability, such as communication enhancement strategies, assistive listening devices and auditory training, so that they can make fully informed decisions about their own health.”

“I could not have been happier with the treatment I have received. When I needed to come in for some help with my hearing aids, they would get me in and help me. Help has been very thorough. ”
“Dr. Hill and her staff provided us personal service in a calm, pleasant environment. We particularly appreciated that Dr. Hill allowed my husband the opportunity to wear a pair of hearing devices for a week's trial before deciding to purchase them. We were reluctant to make such an investment without being sure he would be satisfied that the new devices actually worked better than his previous devices. ”
“A very pleasant environment (I love the art on the walls), and pleasant and competent staff. I am a relative newcomer to the use of hearing aids, so I have little to compare with, but I will definitely recommend recommend Audiology to anyone needing help with hearing.”
“Friendly, Caring, pleasant to work with staff. I see Dr Ford about every 60 days for cerumen (ear wax) removal. My hearing is fine for now. They tested me so I'd have a standard for comparison if anything changes”
“I was in urgent need of assistance with my hearing devices. Even though I was not a patient of theirs I was seen immediately and they fixed my problem with a smile. Thank you so much. When I am need of more than just a quick assist I will seek you out.”
