James Shafer,
AuD, CCC-A, FAAA
Audiologist
Dr. Shafer received his Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University, Master of Science degree from Temple University and Doctor of Audiology degree from Arizona School of Health Sciences. Dr. Shafer has advanced training in vestibular evaluation and tinnitus rehabilitation and recently completed a post-doctorate advanced study in tinnitus and hyperacusis from Salus University. Dr. Shafer serves as the Director of Audiology. He recently completed his six-year term as a member and the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Board of Examiners in Speech, Language Pathology and Audiology.
Cynthia Silverman,
MA, FAAA
Audiologist
Cynthia Silverman has been with AC Tinnitus, Hyperacusis and Balance Center of York since 2005. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University and her Master of Arts degree from Temple University. Cynthia offers comprehensive hearing evaluations and is trained in the latest technology so she can provide a complete selection of hearing aids from several leading manufacturers.
Kimberly Stremmel,
AuD, CCC-A, FAAA
Audiologist
Dr. Kimberly Stremmel serves as the clinical director of rehabilitation here at AC Tinnitus, Hyperacusis and Balance Center. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University and her Doctor of Audiology degree from Towson University. Dr. Stremmel has extensive knowledge of pediatric to adult hearing aid fittings as well as hearing evaluation interpretation so she can make the best recommendation for each patients needs.

Founded by Dr. James L. Shafer, is vested in providing the high-quality diagnostic and rehabilitation services on the east coast for patients of all ages who are experiencing symptoms of hearing loss, tinnitus or balance-related concerns.
Our office can be found on Queen Street between Greendale and Edgehill Roads. Enter on Greendale Road, 2 Car Guys is across the street.

- Evaluate hearing using behavioral and objective (non-behavioral) test procedures
- Identify and treat sensorineural hearing loss
- Identify and treat:
- Tinnitus (ringing, buzzing in ears)
- Hyperacusis ( a disorder in loudness perception. Patients suffering from hyperacusis may appear overly sensitive to a range of sounds, finding many noises unbearable and painfully loud.)
- Misophonia (affected emotionally by common sounds — usually those made by others, and usually ones that other people don't pay attention to)
- Soft Sound Sensitivity Syndrome, 4S
- Refer patients to Otolaryngologists (ENTs) for medical or surgical management of hearing loss and ear disease
- Determine need for hearing rehabilitation
