Megan Sowle
Megan Sowle is a licensed audiologist who earned her bachelor’s degree and Doctorate in Audiology from Illinois State University. She gained experience working in a variety of clinical settings including the Veterans Affairs clinic in Peoria. Dr. Sowle holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She completed her clinical internship here at Hearing Professionals of Illinois and stayed on with us as a Doctor of Audiology.
Lindsey Portugal
Lindsey joined Audiological Laboratory in 2011 after working at Chicago Otolaryngology Associates at Mercy Hospital, Resurrection Medical Center and the Ear, Nose and Throat Center at Lutheran General Hospital. She earned both her B.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology and her Doctorate in Audiology from Illinois State University.
Andrea Karlin
Dr. Andrea Karlin earned a bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing and a master’s degree in audiology from the University of Illinois. She joined our team in 2013 and has been practicing audiology since 1983. Dr. Karlin holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from American Speech Language Hearing Association.
Merle Nathan
Merle earned both her B.S. in Speech and Hearing Science, and her M.A. in Audiology from the University of Illinois. She has worked with Audiological Laboratory for over 15 years. She holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
Brittany Nguyen
Brittany Nguyen is a licensed audiologist who earned a Doctorate in audiology from Washington University School of Medicine. She gained experience working in several clinical settings and in private practice in the suburbs in Chicago. Brittany joined our team in 2014 and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
Sivan Blonz
Dr. Sivan Blonz is a licensed audiologist who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders and a Master’s degree in Audiology from Rush University. She worked in a variety of clinical settings before joining our team in 2000. Dr. Blonz holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is knowledgeable in the latest technology in hearing aids and devices.
Jeanmarie Carone
Dr. Jean Carone is a licensed audiologist who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology and her Master’s degree in audiology from Northern Illinois University and has been practicing audiology for nearly 4 decades. Dr. Carone gained experience working in a variety of clinical settings including owning her own practice before she joined our team in 2011. She holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
Sheri Yamashita
Sheri attended the University of Illinois where she received her B.S. in Speech and Hearing Science and her M.A. in Audiology. She moved on to earn her Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida. After working at Christie Clinic, Mercy Hospital and Advocate Medical Group, she joined Audiological Laboratory in 2001.
Julie Landgraf
Dr. Julie Landgraf is a licensed audiologist who earned her Doctorate in audiology from the University of Florida, a master’s and bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois. She joined our team in 2007 after helping the patients at John H. Stroger, Jr Hospital of Cook County. Dr. Landgraf holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
Mary Ann Jordan
Mary Ann earned both her B.S. in Communicative Disorders and her M.A. in Audiology from Northern Illinois University. She has worked in the field for over 25 years including positions at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary, the Chicago Hearing Society, Westlake Community Hospital, and Beltone Hearing and Audiology Centers. Mary Anne joined Audiological Laboratory in 2008.
Susan Harris
Dr. Susan Harris is a licensed audiologist who earned a bachelor’s degree from Towson State University, a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina and a Doctorate in audiology from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry’s School of Audiology. Dr. Harris worked in a variety of clinical settings before she joined our team in 2009. She holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

About this hearing center
At Hearing Professionals of Illinois (formerly Audiological Laboratory), we believe in a team approach to patient care. We stress patient education to ensure understanding and informed decision making. We have access to all major hearing instrument manufacturers in order to provide a wide range of options for each individual. Our staff is there to provide technical skills, but also to lend the emotional support necessary for our patients to achieve success.
