“I have a great deal of experience with hearing aids. I have purchased at least three over the years and have never been satisfied with any of them due to the fact that I have severe hearing loss in the high frequency range. I got the top of the line aids and after they were adjusted my hearing was phenomenally improved. The speech intelligibility was finally in the range that I could understand after years of frustration. Everything was explained and my phone got an app that allowed me to fine tune the aids for localized situations. I cannot give a higher rating to the professional equipment and treatment at Hearing Specialists of New England. You won't find a better one.”

“Barry is not an audiologist, and does not listen to his patient. I told him that a different clinic recommended a CROS hearing aid, but he thought he knew better based on his simplified hearing test that only checks if you can hear a tone, not speech recognition. He didn't show me how to put the hearing aid in place, how to replace the tips on the end of the receiver, nor how to connect the phone app with Bluetooth to allow use of all the features. When I returned the aids, I had to make an appointment just to drop them off. This delayed me from getting the correct aids by 4 weeks. Don't use this company, find an audiologist who knows how to address hearing issues!”

Official Response from Hearing Specialists of New England - Marlborough:
“No, I am not an audiologist. I am a fully licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist and have been for over 25 years of experience. This patient came to me looking for hearing help and to get my opinion. When a patient comes to my office and has an mild to moderate asymmetrical loss due to a schwannoma, I feel so bad for people in this predicament because of the challenges they face due to their situation. Hearing in noise and recognizing directionality is challenge for people in that situation. Mainstream society could never imagine the challenges they face. In that situation, I always try to think outside the box to give the patient some sense of these missing pieces to the puzzle. In a situation like this I do say this is a shot in the dark and that this has worked in some instances more often than a CROS. I was only trying to give her what she was trying to replace in her life. I try not to be a robot and walk straight down the main stream… I have not had good luck with a CROS product. Maybe 5% of every patient I have ever fit with a CROS saw any benefit. This is why I feel it is worth a chance. I instruct all my patients that this is a first fit and everyone is different. Please call us and make an appointment to address instances where hearing is a challenge and I will address them. I am a huge proponent of a significant others during appointments for if none else to hear instructions. There are so many instructions at a fitting it is impossible to take everything in. My schedule can be crazy as most people's these days. I have people make appointments to insure they get their timely refunds. I try my best and wish Karen all the best in her search for better hearing. I can only imagine the frustrations she has faced. ”
