Gordon Walker Elected President of Better Hearing Institute

January 15, 2010 - The Better Hearing Institute (BHI) elected Gordon Walker, VP General Manager of Knowles Electronics to a one-year term as President. The election was held November 11, 2009 in Chicago, IL.

Gordon Walker has been the VP General Manager of the hearing components division of Knowles Electronics since 2005. Knowles is a leading global supplier of hearing aid transducers serving the market for over sixty years. Headquartered in Itasca, Illinois, Knowles is also the world leader in silicon microphones for consumer applications. Gordon has been with Knowles since 1997 in a wide range of responsibilities, from product development / product management on both the hearing components and consumer businesses to component manufacturing.

Gordon WalkerIn accepting this position, Gordon stated, "I am thrilled to take a leadership role with BHI and look forward to making a difference in people's awareness of hearing loss as a problem and the solutions that are available. CY2009 was a good year for BHI. I believe CY2010 will be an even better year as we launch a discussion forum for people with hearing loss, explore the use of Internet banner advertising and radio public service announcements to promote the BHI website, establish more relationships both within and without the hearing health industry, publish additional installments of the MarkeTrak VIII publications series and issue a series of new eGuides and educational articles for consumers.”

Gordon lives in Hinsdale, Illinois with his wife Amy and two children and is an avid sports enthusiast and fan of hockey, skiing and golf.

In addition to electing Gordon Walker as President, the Board elected Cathy Jones of Phonak as Vice-President and Jeff Taylor of Sonion as Secretary/Treasurer and added Peer Lauritsen, President of Oticon to the BHI Board. Additional Board members are: Brian Kinnerk (Siemens), Jerry Ruzicka (Starkey), William Luxford, MD (House Ear Clinic), Michele Fusco (Sonus), Ray Jones (Jones Audiology).
