Newark, CA-November 16, 2009 - Popular Science Magazine has named the Lyric "invisible" hearing aid from InSound Medical a winner of its coveted Best of What's New Award in the Health category. Chosen from thousands of entrants, Lyric is designed to reside deep in the hearing canal for up to four months while providing natural sound quality. Unlike conventional hearing aids, it does not require battery changes, operates around the clock, can be worn during showers, and uses the ear's natural anatomy to funnel sound to the ear drum.

"We are honored to be recognized by Popular Science for creating a unique product that can help many of the 35 million Americans with significant hearing loss," said David Thrower, CEO of InSound Medical. "This award also honors the groundbreaking work our scientists and engineers have done creating Lyric."

"For 22 years, Popular Science has honored the innovations that surprise and amaze us, those that make a positive impact on our world today, and challenge our views of what's possible in the future," said Mark Jannot, Editor in Chief of Popular Science. "The 'Best of What's New' award is the magazine's top honor, and the 100 winners - chosen from among thousands of entrants - represent the highest level of achievement in their fields."
