Congress Listens to HIA
A big "thank you" goes out to everyone who took part in Hearing on the Hill 2009. With over 80 Congressional meetings throughout the day, the Hearing Aid Tax Credit (H.R. 1646 & S. 1019) message was heard throughout Congress. Already, we've received word that your meetings have begun to generate co-sponsorships, including Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), the fifth ranking Democratic member of the House Ways and Means Committee - and most senior Committee member to support the tax credit thus far!
With reception attendance topping 100, a third of who were Congressional staff, Hearing on the Hill was a strong showing of the unanimous support the Hearing Aid Tax Credit has garnered throughout the hearing healthcare industry. Representatives from HLAA and AG Bell were in attendance, as were Dr. Therese Walden of AAA and Christ Gustafson of IHS; both of which graciously donated their time to conduct hearing screenings for Members of Congress and their staff. At the event's close, lead House sponsors Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (R-NY) and Rep. Vern Ehlers (R-MI) thanked the crowd for their activism and spoke about the need to pass the legislation.
