Pure and Tek, Be One With Your World

Monday, August 4th 2008

Siemens Hearing Instruments Pure is creating excitement with both hearing instrument wearers and Hearing Care Professionals. While the discreet and comfortable design plays a role in creating this enthusiasm, Pure has even more to offer: cutting-edge technology that connects to todays electronic audio devices. When paired with Tek' wireless enhancement, Pure utilizes easy-to-use Bluetooth wireless technology that enables wearers to use their hearing instruments to seamlessly connect to electronic devices like MP3 players, mobile phones, TVs and more with no delay between audio and video.

Up-and-coming fashion designer Chelsea Healy loves using her new Siemens Pure hearing instruments with Tek. Chelsea feels more confident and is thrilled that her new hearing instruments cater to her lifestyle.

One of the features that Chelsea enjoys most about Tek is the ability to make and take calls directly from her Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone. When using her phone with her old hearing instruments, I used to have to take out my hearing aids and set them on my desk, Chelsea said. Now, with Tek wireless enhancement, I can answer my phone directly through my hearing aids. Chelsea simply sets her mobile phone on Bluetooth mode and Tek Connect, which is a remote control small enough to fit in the palm of her hand, transmits a wireless signal from the phone to both hearing instruments, transforming Pure into a virtual hands-free headset. Tek transmits the signal regardless of what listening program Chelsea is currently using.

Pure wearers also experience the benefits of Tek while enjoying other audio/video devices such as watching TV or DVDs. The Tek Transmitter connects to the TV or DVD player and wirelessly transmits audio signals to both hearing instruments via the Tek Connect remote control. For the first time, hearing instrument wearers can enjoy their favorite programs directly through their hearing instruments without the annoying delay between the audio and visual signals. Tek automatically coordinates high-definition balanced, stereo signals to the instruments and allows Pure wearers control over the treble as well. Because of the e2e wireless 2.0 technology in Pure, the wireless signals received in both ears are synchronized, so wearers dont have to make as many adjustments.

Tek acts as a complete remote control unit, so it may also be used to control sound settings. Tek uses DataLearning (Pure 500, Pure 700) and SoundLearning' (Pure 700) reducing the need for manual adjustments over time. DataLearning allows the instruments to learn the overall volume preference for these environments while SoundLearning remembers these volume preferences as well as sound quality preferences, and preferences for various input levels. With Tek Connect, Chelsea is able to change her audio settings from a quiet work environment, to a program suited for a noisy subway or restaurant, simply by clicking a button on the remote.

Pure continues to automatically control input in any environment. The Speech and Noise Management System in Pure automatically reduces background sounds and enhances speech sounds to provide the highest level of comfort. Chelsea finds this feature particularly useful while walking the busy streets of New York City and while in social settings with a lot of background noise. Pure automatically softens these noises while amplifying speech to a comfortable volume, which ultimately enables her to better engage in conversation. Its amazing how clear the sound is when Im out with my friends and were talking. In addition, the Adaptive Directional Microphone allows Chelsea to hear sounds from all directions and be able to distinguish where the sound is coming from.

With the SoundSmoothing feature in Pure, annoying sounds like dishes clanging or paper rustling, are softened. Chelsea experiences no annoying whistling, thanks to the search and destroy mechanism in Pure known as the FeedbackBlocker'. The sound is so clear, Chelsea expressed with excitement, Im hearing things that Ive never heard before. And, thanks to the eWindScreen in Pure, the problems with wind noise that Chelsea experienced with her old hearing instruments are no more.

Another new and exciting feature in Pure is that the hearing instruments can work with rechargeable batteries. They only require five hours of charging to work their magic all day and evening. Now, Chelsea no longer has to worry about hearing instrument batteries going dead at inconvenient times or fumbling with tiny batteries.

Chelseas Hearing Care Professional, Kim OConnell, is thrilled with Pure and Tek, as they have, truly changed my philosophy on what hearing instruments can do.
