Hearing aid batteries come in different sizes, with smaller batteries generally having a shorter life than larger ones. The amount of power required to run your hearing aids and the number of hours that you wear your hearing aids will also affect the battery life.

Typically hearing aid batteries last 5-14 days based on 16 hours per day use cycle. Generally, the smaller the battery size, the shorter the battery life. The sizes of hearing aid batteries are listed below along with their standard number and color codes.

• Size 10: YELLOW
• Size 13: ORANGE
• Size 312: BROWN
• Size 675: BLUE

When to Change Hearing Aid Batteries

Many of today’s digital hearing aids come standard with a low-battery warning. When the battery reaches near exhaustion, the hearing aid will emit a beeping sound that repeats every so often until the battery completely dies or is changed. This is your indication it is time to put a new hearing aid battery in.

For hearing aids that do not have a low-battery warning, you can use a battery tester to know if the battery voltage is low. Also if your hearing aid simply shuts off it is highly probable it is time to change your battery. It is important to carry extra batteries with you in the event you are away from home and your low-battery warning begins and/or your hearing aid shuts off.
