Dr. Michelle Brooks earned her degree in Audiology from Salus University, her Master of Science degree from Rush University and Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from St. Louis University. Dr. Brooks holds an Audiology license through the Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology for the Commonwealth of Virginia and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Michelle also has a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a hearing aid specialist license for the state of Virginia. Dr. Brooks has experience with audiological and vestibular diagnostic testing, hearing aids and BAHA implants.
Andrea Gohmert earned her Master of Science from Vanderbilt University and graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a specialty in Speech-Language Pathology. Andrea holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology, and is licensed to practice Audiology by the state of Virginia. Andrea specializes in cochlear implants, pediatrics, and vestibular testing. Andrea has been with the Virginia Hearing Center since 2007.
Debbie Cox received her Bachelor's and Masters degree from Arizona State University and has 20 years experience in the field of Audiology. She is licensed as an Audiologist and a Hearing Aid Dispenser in Virginia and is a Fellow of the American Audiology Association. Debbie is a native of Connecticut but for the past 10 years she has been happy to call Virginia home. She joined the Balance and Ear Center staff in 2007 as the Director of Virginia Hearing Aid Center, a subsidiary of Balance and Ear. Debbie enjoys working with people and hearing aids to help them reach their full hearing potential.
Dr. Emily Shelburne received her Doctorate of Audiology from East Tennessee State University in 2011 and before that earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Virginia. She holds an Audiology license in Virginia, hearing aid specialist license in Virginia, Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Dr. Shelburne specializes in vestibular and electrophysiological measures including adult and pediatric audiological and vestibular diagnostic testing procedures.
The Virginia Hearing Center prides itself on working closely with the physicians to identify patient hearing loss and possible need for hearing devices. We specialize in state-of-the-art digital hearing aid devices. Virginia Hearing Center carries a multitude of hearing aid styles. Custom fitting and modern diagnostic testing ensures a good match between the hearing-impaired patient and their hearing device. Our professional staff is comprised of a highly skilled, experienced team of audiologists, who have earned recognition for their outstanding dedication in this field. We take pride in appropriately diagnosing the different forms of hearing loss and when necessary recommending the correct type of hearing device.
