Audiology Clinic Director

Dr. Rachel Smith is a Clinical Assistant professor and the Audiology Clinic Coordinator at the URI Speech and Hearing Center. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders, and a master’s degree and doctoral degree in audiology all from the University of Rhode Island. Following graduation, she worked for a large ENT for nearly 10 years.  During her tenure, she specialized in diagnostic testing, hearing aid dispensing, and cochlear implants.  Dr. Smith joined the university clinic in 2016 and provides comprehensive hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings and repairs, as well as facilitates an hearing loss education and aural rehabilitation group open to the public.

Clinic details

With two locations at the Kingston campus and the Pawtucket facility, the University of Rhode Island Speech and Hearing Centers offer a broad range of speech-language and hearing services to patients of all ages. Those who are accepted for services receive treatment from qualified professionals, with the assistance of trained graduate students in speech-language pathology and audiology. Clients may be self-referred or referred by educators, physicians, and other healthcare professionals and come from all over the state of Rhode Island, eastern Connecticut, and southeastern Massachusetts. Audiology services include diagnostic hearing tests and complete hearing aid services.
