Joan DAlessandro, AuD has been a practicing audiologist for over 30 years. She is the owner of Advanced Hearing and Balance Care and her clinic is AudigyCertified to provide: Expert Assessment Experienced Professionals Extraordinary Technology Excellent Service Exceptional Value Dr. DAlessandro is a Charter Member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology and served on its Board for 9 years. In 2007 she served as President of the Academy. In 2009, then-Governor Ed Rendell appointed her to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Hearing Aid Sales and Registration. “Dr Joan” as she prefers to be called, also earned the American Academy of Audiology’s Scholars’Award in 2009 and 2006. This award is given to those Doctors of Audiology who have exceeded the requirements for continuing education over a three-year period. She is dedicated to improving quality of life through better hearing and offers a wide variety manufacturers and styles to meet the needs of her patients. She is impressed by the ever expanding array of hearing aid technology and wireless connectivity that has arisen over the past few years. With today’s electronics the hard-of-hearing can really hear better than normal hearing people with wireless remote microphones that bridge distance and reduce ambient noise. She finds that humor is a great way to lighten the atmosphere for new patients and has collected cartoons on the experience of hearing loss-many of which have been provided by her patients. To help her patients deal with the cost of hearing aids, Dr. Joan offers a payment plan and also participates in the Audient Alliance, a Lions’ foundation program that helps to provide quality hearing healthcare to low-income patients.

Advanced Hearing & Balance Care dispenses hearing technology from several manufacturers, offering hearing diagnosis, fitting and rehabilitation. Custom earmolds for musicians, swimmers, iPod users,shooters. Testing on-site for industries with high noise levels and computerized reports according to OSHA standards. Accepts most insurances, including Medicare, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, BlueCross/BlueShield, Coventry, Oxford, etc.
