“She was very patient, explained things, gave him time to process things.”
“The place was really nice and the receptionist was nice and very helpful. The person that was evaluating him for his hearing was really fast with him. She really didn't finish the process, because I guess he was getting up, not fussy, but not sitting down. She was fast. She told me to come back in 6 months. She didn't have no interest in trying to getting him to sit down.”
“I have been a customer of A&E for at least five years. My preferred audiologist (Dr. Kelly) is no longer working now. Yesterday, I had a regular check-up. It was a very different experience from my earlier very satisfying experiences. Yesterday, I felt like I was being hustled to purchase new hearing aids. That was the felt agenda from the moment I entered the office. I did not connect with the new audiologist. She did not take time to get to know me, find out what I do and what my challenges are around hearing, and what my hearing aids needs are at this time of my life. She seemed much more interested in selling me new expensive hearing aids, or a pair of refurbished hearing aids for $3000. I am going to look for a new audiologist closer to home. I want a trained audiologist, but I also want someone who is compassionate and curious about the client. (Rev.) Bruce Baker ”
Official Response from A & E Audiology - Lititz:“Dear Reverend Baker, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your unsatisfactory experience. You are indeed correct that patient care and treatment requires a connection of trust, confidence, and genuine concern from your audiologist. That is certainly what we expect from each person on our staff, and we are equally disappointed that isn’t what happened in your visit. The situation you described is not in keeping with our patient/doctor philosophy. We invite you back to meet with Dr. Kaplan, who enjoys getting to know his patients and would be the ideal audiologist to work with you. I think you will be very satisfied with him. He will give you the personal attention to assess the current status of hearing loss, discuss your concerns and needs, and help you find the solution best for you. While we do feel it is our obligation to tell patients about new technologies in hearing devices, our foremost concern is what’s right for each patient, not what we can sell. I hope you will reconsider your decision to look for a new audiologist and will call us for an appointment with Dr. Kaplan. Please ask for me when you call. Yours sincerely, Meredith Noll Patient Care Coordinator ”
“I think she was thorough.”
“the visit itself was fine for my father (95 years old). They took his hearing aid with them for cleanup. When I went to get it on Friday the office was closed for a staff meeting.I had told them I was walking up that week (I called on wed) a few miles in Jan to pick up his hearing aid. It would have been a courtesy for them to tell me they were closed on Fri. rather than finding out when I got there. They're closed on weekends and they can't seem to get someone to cross the street to the retirement village to deliver his hearing aid til Feb 18. Very poor customer service. ”
Official Response from A & E Audiology - Lititz:“Dear Celeste, We are so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience on Friday. We have served thousands of Lancaster County residents in our 15 years in private practice, and we strive to create the best possible experience for each of our patients. We do close our office for one day at the beginning of each year to discuss better ways to serve our patients and the community in the year ahead. We post signs in our offices and announcements on Facebook whenever there is a change to our normal business hours, however we understand your frustrations and apologize for the inconvenience. We have a very close relationship with the nursing staff and residents at several retirement communities in Lancaster, and our Doctors of Audiology visit each of them at least once a month to meet the needs of our patients who are unable to travel to our offices. Thank you for raising your frustrations. Please be aware we have arranged for a member of our staff to make an additional trip to the retirement village early this week. We hope this will address your concerns. Please contact our office with any other concerns you may have, we would love to hear from you. Again, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you, Meredith N., Patient Care Coordinator ”
