Hearing care services

Evaluation for Auditory Processing Disorders (APD): APD evaluations are most commonly performed for school-age children, although many adults are also tested.  A person with suspected APD has normal hearing, but does not seem to hear well or understand what is heard. Hearing and understanding may be inconsistent.  Testing for APD consists of a hearing test and several tasks where words or sentences must be repeated in different listening conditions.

Battery Club: Hearing aid battery club members receive special discounts on hearing aid batteries.  The Battery Club is a convenient way to make sure you always have hearing aid batteries when you need them.

Hearing Aid Repairs: Some minor hearing aid repairs can be done in the office setting in a short period of time; others will need to be sent to the manufacturer for repair.  Your hearing professional can help determine what kind of a repair is necessary if you feel your hearing aid is not working properly.

Hearing Evaluations for Children: A hearing test for a child is often not as simple as a hearing test for an adult.  For this reason, audiologists are trained in specific techniques to evaluate the hearing of a child.  Toys, games, and lights are used in the testing room to help obtain responses from a child to soft tones, noises, or words.  The child may wear headphones or listen to the sounds in a room with speakers.

Evaluation and Fitting of Musician Ear Plugs: Musicians practice and perform in a variety of different settings. They are exposed to high levels of sound, sometimes for long periods, which may put them at risk for permanent hearing damage.   Musician’s ear plugs are custom-made devices that help to limit the sound exposure from instruments, while still providing a rich musical experience for the performer or audience.

Counseling on the use and care of your hearing aids: Professional staff is available to help you with problems you may be having with your hearing aids.  They can also spend time with you and discuss ways to make listening with hearing aids easier in your day-to-day life.  Family members are welcome and encouraged to come with you and learn about your hearing aids.

Diagnostic Hearing Evaluations: During your examination you will be tested by a licensed Audiologist using a series of low & high frequency words to determine your ability to understand verbiage within a conversation. We will also give you several words to repeat. The results will help us determine your percentage of hearing loss, your ability to understand speech and how hearing aids will improve your ability to hear.  Insurance often covers these services.

Otoacoustic emission (OAE): OAE testing allows the audiologist to understand how the outer hair cells of your inner ear are working.

Hearing Aid Dispensing & Fitting: At the hearing aid fitting, you will receive the hearing aids you selected.  They are programmed based on a prescription that is specific to each person’s hearing loss.  The hearing professional may make adjustments after you try the hearing aids to make sure the settings and fit are ideal for you.

In Office Services: We encourage ongoing cleaning and maintenance after your hearing aid purchase to ensure you receive optimum performance and benefit from your hearing aid(s). We encourage all our patients to come in for regular hearing aid check-ups and cleaning.

Repairs, Maintenance, Cleanings, and Warranties come with all brands of hearing aids. We offer in-office repairs when possible on most makes/models.

Battery Sales:  We keep a supply of batteries for you to purchase in our office.

Assistive Devices: When hearing aids are not enough or not appropriate we offer devices for the TV, telephone, FM classroom amplification, body aids, and sound alert devices.

Custom Earmolds: Custom hearing protection for people who work or play in loud noise or music,  industrial hearing protection.  Custom earmolds for musicians, hunters, swim molds, iPOD, hands free cell phones and in-the-ear monitor molds.

Tympanometry: Tympanometry is an examination used to test the condition of the middle ear and mobility of the eardrum (tympanic membrane) and the conduction bones, by creating variations of air pressure in the ear canal.

Auditory Processing Evaluations: We provide hearing tests and auditory processsing evaluations as well as fitting hearing aids.

Cell Phone Accessories: Custom earmolds for cell phone headrests, Bluetooth compatible device, hands-free and more.

Industrial hearing screenings: Workers in certain occupations are required to receive regular hearing tests due to the risk of hearing loss that can be caused by excessive noise in their workplace.  These hearing screenings can be completed in less than 30 minutes, and comply with the standards set by OSHA.
