Gerri Competiello earned her Bachelors of Arts in Speech Pathology and Audiology, and Masters of Arts in Audiology at Adelphi University in New York. Dr. Competiello earned her Doctor of Audiology at Salus University, Elkins Park Pennsyvania. She successfully completed her Clinical Fellowship at the Lennox Hill Cochlear Implant Center in New York City. She has trained at prestigious institutions with both world renowned Otolaryngologists and Audiologists at The Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, and The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. She has also worked as an clinical trainer for one of the leading hearing aid manufacturers, giving her tremendous insight to the latest approaches in hearing amplficaition.
Gerri holds her fellow with the American Academy of Audiology and is licensed by New York State in Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensing.
Dr. Competiello has supervised and trained many graduate students, Clinical Fellow candidates, and hearing aid dispensers during her career. Currently, she is an Associate Professor of Audiology at Long Island Consortium, St. Johns University campus, New York.
Dr. Theresa Dempsey, Au.D., CCC-A, is a New York State licensed audiologist. Dr. Dempsey earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences from Saint Joseph’s College in 2002, completed her Master of Arts in Audiology at Hofstra University in 2004, and her Doctorate in Audiology from Salus University in 2008. She has practiced audiology in various clinical settings for over ten years and is particularly interested in aural rehabilitation and counseling of the hearing impaired and their families. Dr. Dempsey has extensive experience in diagnostic testing of pediatric, adult, geriatric and difficult to test populations. She specializes in dispensing and counseling patients in the use of advanced digital hearing aid technology, balance testing and electrophysiological testing. Dr. Dempsey works closely with patients and their families to provide exceptional hearing health care.
Dr. Dempsey belongs to many professional organizations including: the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA), and the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and holds professional certifications and licenses, including; ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology, a New York State Audiology license and a New York State Hearing aid Dispensing License.
Deborah LaBel, MS is a New York State licensed Audiologist and Hearing Aid Dispenser. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in English Literature at St. John's University and her Master's Degree in Speech and Hearing Science at Washington University in 1998. Deborah has worked with many well renowned Otolaryngologists and Audiologists at prestigious clinical facilities including Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City as well as Central Institute for the Deaf in St Louis. She has extensive experience working with hearing impaired children and adults and guiding their families through the entire rehabilitation process. She has participated in numerous research protocols examining the benefits of early amplification in children and the benefits of cochlear implants in all populations. Deborah specializes in programming traditional and medical hearing systems for children and adults, and strives to provide you with exceptional audiological care and support.
Amy Cavallo MA/CCC-A is a NY State licensed audiologist. She has extensive clinical experience in providing audiological services and research for adult, geriatric, pediatric, and special needs populations.
She has served as a Professor Assistant at St. John's University in post-graduate studies, Research Audiologist at Lexington School for the Deaf, and Educational Audiologist at Nassau BOCES School. She is also affiliated with several professional organizations including the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and the American Academy of Audiology (AAA). Mrs. Cavallo also attains current professional certifications including the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology and NY State Hearing Aid Dispensing Licensure.
As an individual who has struggled with hearing impairment all of her adult life, Mrs. Cavallo personally understands how to manage and cope with the obstacles a person with hearing loss must face, as well as the importance of obtaining the optimal hearing a patient can achieve. She works intimately with the clients she serves, and understands that the support of a patient's loved ones is an integral part of the rehabilitation process.
