The New Paltz Speech-Language & Hearing Center is primarily a professional training facility for graduate and undergraduate students majoring in Communication Disorders. It provides clinical practicum experience for these students with a variety of individuals suffering from speech, language and hearing disorders. By providing diagnostic and therapeutic speech-language pathology and audiology services, the Center also serves the College and its surrounding communities. The client/patient population includes children and adults from the community, college students, staff, faculty and the families of faculty and staff. All clinical services provided by students, regardless of their level of training, is strictly supervised by clinical staff in accordance with standards set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The Center provides full audiologic and hearing aid services, however does not participate with any private insurance carriers. The Center is closely associated with the graduate programs in Communication Disorders at SUNY New Paltz. The graduate program is accredited by the council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
