I have enjoyed being an audiologist for the past 31 years with interests in CAPD, diagnostics and hearing rehabilitation. Our clinic dispenses primarily Oticon instruments and we've had a very successful relationship with them for 20+ years. My wife, also an audiologist, and I enjoy sailing our Beneteau 42cc and traveling to new locations.
Karen Joseph, MD,CCC-A Karen Joseph is a Board Certified and Licensed Audiologist. Her experience spans over 30 years in the healthcare field. Karen received her B.S in Nursing from University of Maryland in 1975. In 1975, she began her career as an operating room nurse with University of Maryland Medical Center. In 1984, she obtained a master's degree in Audiology from Towson State, University part of the University of Maryland complex. Karen had an audiology practice in Baltimore, MD for 10 years. In 1995, she moved to North Carolina and married Tom. Karen's passion to help hearing impaired children led her to an audiology position with Craven County Schools. Karen was instrumental in the successful 2009 Wine Festival that raised over $8,000 for the hearing impaired children of Craven County. In 2010, Tom expanded the practice and Karen joined Audiology of New Bern full time. Karen's focus in the practice is audiometric evaluations for retired and active duty veterans. Karen is a world traveler, gourmet cook, avid reader and skilled sailor. Karen and Tom renovated a historic home in downtown New Bern in 2004, where they now reside. When they aren't working at Audiology of New Bern, you can find them sailing in their 42' Beneteau sailboat, Soundwaves, on the Neuse River, traveling or enjoying the many cultural events in New Bern. Karen is an active volunteer in New Bern. She currently serves treasurer in Coastal Women's Forum (a local business women's organization), participates in the annual New Bern Historical Society's Ghostwalk and Spring Homes Tour and is active at Christ Episcopal Church. Sidenote: Karen and Tom met in Bern, Switzerland at an Audiology convention. Fate would have it that, ironically enough, they made their life together in New Bern, the daughter city of Bern.
Carrollynn Bowen – Office Manager Carrollynn retired from Social Security Administration in 2003. In 2006, she moved to New Bern to be close to her son and await the birth of her granddaughter who is the apple of her eye. Carrollynn loves being "Granny". Carrollynn was not ready for a full retirement and wanted to fulfill her desire to help people as well as use her office skills. In 2009, she became Audiology of New Bern Office Manager and Girl Friday. Carrollynn quickly learned the audiology and hearing instrument industry and is a valuable asset to the team. When Carrollynn is not working, she enjoys travelling, spending time at the beach and being with her family.
