Diagnostic Hearing Evaluations O'Connor Hearing Center provides Diagnostic Hearing Evaluations which includes obtaining a case history, performing Otoscopy; Immittance Testing; Air Conduction Testing; Bone Conduction Testing; Speech Testing. Acoustic testing of hearing sensitivity thresholds, performed in a sound booth, via an audiometer to determine current hearing levels. Hearing Aid Evaluations Using results of a recent (within six months) diagnostic hearing evaluation, our Audiologist will discuss your hearing and communication needs as well as your style preferences with you and your family (if desired). O'Connor Hearing Center features hearing aids from several national and international manufacturers (Please see our Products page on this website). We will be able to find the right device to fit your needs and your budget. At this appointment we will select the color, the style and measurements for your new aid. Depending on the style chosen, we will obtain an ear impression and complete a contract. At O’Connor Hearing Center, one half of the cost of the hearing aids is required at this appointment and the balance is due upon fitting. An appointment will be made for the hearing aid fitting, usually in about two weeks. Hearing Aid Fittings O'Connor Hearing Center uses the most advanced methods to fit and program today's digital instruments. Real Ear Measurements are used as well as testing in the soundbooth to measure benefit and appropriate fitting. Careful instructions on use and care are discussed and a follow-up appointment is made to check on your progress. Once a hearing aid is programmed at the initial fitting, we will provide subsequent adjustments as needed. Hearing aid batteries are supplied without cost for hearing aids purchased through O'Connor Hearing Center. Tinnitus Treatment Tinnitus is the sensation of a sound, not audible to others, often described as a continual ringing, buzzing or whistling in the head or ear(s). It is usually due to a very minor disorder of the hearing system, sometimes associated with aging and/or noise exposure. Slight changes in the system may be sensed as tinnitus. While there is no cure for tinnitus almost everyone can learn to manage it. O'Connor Hearing Center provides a comprehensive program of tinnitus counseling and therapies. These range from counseling alone to various types of Sound Therapy including both wearable and non-wearable devices. Please see our Tinnitus Treament Center page for more information. Assistive Listening Devices O'Connor Hearing Center has a comfortable "living room" area where many Assistive Listening Devices are displayed. Here you can try different items from television devices to vibrating alarm clocks to different kinds of telephones for the hearing impaired. If you would like to discuss the various devices avaliable and learn how one might improve your quality of life, please call or leave and message on our Contact Us page and we will set an appointment for you.
