Dr. Lisa Nelson founded Hearing Professionalsin Laurel, Maryland in 1995 because she believed that personalized care should be the ultimate goal of an audiology practice and that using the most technologically advanced equipment should be standard care.
The company has grown from a single employee with a vision of more personalized hearing healthcare to a team of 12 employees serving patients at four locations. The reputation of the practice brings in patients from more than 7 counties in Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

The Doctors of Audiology at Hearing Professionals are highly experienced and qualified to identify, diagnose, rehabilitate and monitor disorders of the hearing and balance system. We assess your entire auditory or vestibular system and then recommend a solution to treat your symptom.

Dr. Lisa Nelson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Maryland, College Park, her Master’s of Science degree from Gallaudet University, Washington D.C., and her Doctor of Audiology degree from The University of Arizona School of Health Sciences.
Stacey Samuels Cole has been with Hearing Professionals since 2007 as the Director of Audiology, overseeing the clinical operations of the four offices. She currently holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Pharmacology and Rehabilitation Science from Xavier University of Louisiana and Louisiana State University Medical Center respectively. She has also obtained a Master’s of Science and subsequently a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Rehabilitation Science with a concentration in geriatric clinical health issues. Stacey relocated to Maryland in 1997 to pursue studies in Audiology at the University of Maryland College Park, receiving her Masters of Arts degree.
Dr. Katie Kirleis joined Hearing Professionals in 2012 and is the lead audiologist overseeing clinical operations at Hearing Professionals clinic in Waldorf, MD. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences from Purdue Universityand continued her studies in audiology at Purdue and received her Doctorate of Audiology degree. While at Purdue University, Dr. Kirleis participated in research involving vocal development of young children with normal hearing and those that receive cochlear implant(s). She also conducted a study investigating the effect of spatial separation of competing speech on perceptual and working memory demands.
