Mercy Hearing Center - Springfield

“I brought my mother there. She was supposed to have her hearing tested, and one of her hearing aids is broken, but it hadn't been a year, so insurance wouldn't cover it. My mother is 95 and I live in Connecticut and my mother lives in Massachusetts, so it didn't work out very well. I drove from Connecticut to Massachusetts and then we drove to Springfield to find out her hearing couldn't be tested. They did clean her hearing aid and talked to her a little bit, but they couldn't do the hearing test. So whoever made the appointment should have told me that we needed to wait another month or something.”

“Medicare will only approve annual hearing evaluations for medical necessity and ordered by a physician. We are sorry that information was not provided to this patient by the office staff. We appreciate and welcome this feedback and have reinstructed office staff to remind patients that Medicare will only approve payment for hearing evaluations on a yearly basis. We sincerely apologize for the patient's inconvenience and vow to provide Medicare hearing test policy to all future patients. Thank you for the very valuable feedback. Change can only happen if we know what we need to do better. Thank you.”
