Mass Audiology has been locally owned for over 39 years! The late Barry Fellman started our company in 1967. Michael, Barry's son, used to go with his father to carry his medical bag and visit patients back in the day when a house call was a routine event (a practice that Michael has kept to this day). Michael received his Masters degree in Audiology in 1991 and became a Doctor of Audiology in 2004. Since then, Michael has expanded Mass Audiology to cover a good part of Massachusetts. Today, Michael, as Doctor of Audiology and owner, oversees our twelve offices and our numerous house calls.

Untreated Hearing Loss Linked to Depression, Anxiety, Social Isolation in Seniors WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Untreated hearing loss has serious emotional and social consequences for older persons, according to a study released today by The National Council on the Aging (NCOA). 5/99
This study debunks the myth that hearing loss in older persons is a harmless condition, said James Firman, Ed.D., president and CEO of The National Council on the Aging. The survey of 2,300 hearing impaired adults age 50 and older found that those with untreated hearing loss were more likely to report depression, anxiety, and paranoia and were less likely to participate in organized social activities, compared to those who wear hearing aids. The study was conducted by Seniors Research Group, an alliance between NCOA and Market Strategies Inc
