Hearing is critical to every aspect of our lives but people often wait years before deciding to do something about hearing difficulty. Research has shown that hearing loss affects not only an individual's personal and professional life, but also the person's self esteem. Since 1984, Hampden Hearing Center has provided the finest hearing care in a comfortable setting without pressure. Our office is staffed by certified, licensed audiologists who have earned Doctorate degrees in Audiology (Au.D.) and have many years of experience helping people with hearing loss. We work with each patient to select the treatment plan best suited to the individual's communication needs and lifestyle. Many health insurance plans cover the cost of hearing evaluations, and some plans provide partial or complete payment for hearing instruments. You should check with your insurance carrier regarding your hearing benefits. Our CLINICAL STAFF includes two Doctors of Audiology: Susan Bankoski Chunyk, Au.D.and Jennifer Lundgren Garcia, Au.D. Our SUPPORT STAFF includes: Carla Fernandes, Office Manager, who has been part of the Hampden Hearing Center team since 2007. Sarah Mission, Office Assistant, who joined the staff in 2010. DIAGNOSTIC HEARING EVALUATION, to measure your hearing and determine if help is needed. HEARING INSTRUMENT EVALUATION AND FITTING, including measurements with the instruments in your ears (Real Ear Measurement), to ensure that they provide you with optimal benefit for your individual hearing needs. We also review with you how to use and care for the devices. HEARING INSTRUMENT REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE; please contact us if your hearing instrument is not working properly. Hearing devices occasionally require factory repair due to mechanical problems. If we are unable to resolve the problem in the office, we will send the instrument to the manufacturer. If possible, we will offer you a loaner hearing aid to use while your device is being repaired. Hearing instruments also require regular cleaning and maintenance, to keep them working properly. We recommend daily cleaning at home and office cleaning every six months (by appointment). HEARING INSTRUMENTS are available in numerous styles and levels of technology. The vast majority of hearing devices fit today incorporate digital technology, with a variety of electronic features available in different price ranges. Our audiologists will help you select the hearing instruments best suited to your hearing, lifestyle and budget. We offer a 30-day trial period with hearing aids, to allow you to experience how the instruments help you in "real world" listening situations. CUSTOM EARMOLDS are manufactured from ear impressions of your ears. These earmolds can be made for swimming, noise protection, or use with hearing devices. BATTERIES AND ACCESSORIES: we carry a variety of hearing aid battery sizes and accessories for cleaning and maintenance of your hearing devices. The Massachusetts Equipment Distribution Program (MassEDP) is a service that provides residents with a permanent disability equipment to help them use the telephone in their homes. By offering specialized telephones for free or at a reduced cost, depending on income, this program fosters independence, empowerment, and freedom of choice. Our audiologists can certify that an individual is eligible to receive special equipment through the Massachusetts program. We welcome any questions about our products and services.
