Erin Rushing,

Dr. Rushing studied biology at UL Lafayette earning both bachelors and masters degrees in the field. There she studied hair cells in sea anemones. Sea anemones detect vibrations in the water utilizing the same mechanisms that the human ear uses to detect vibrations in the air. The sensory cells in both sea anemones and human ears that detects vibrations are called “hair cells”. However, sea anemones and other animals can repair their hair cells, but humans cannot. Dr. Glen Watson’s lab at UL Lafayette studies the ways that sea anemones and zebra fish repair these cells in hopes to help people with hearing loss one day. The time spent in the lab inspired Dr. Rushing to learn more about human hearing. She enrolled at Louisiana State University’s Health Sciences Center in the Audiology Doctoral program. While studying at LSUHSC, she participated in audiological research at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, learning from the nation’s leading research audiologists. Also while at LSUHSC, she completed the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) traineeship. She earned a Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from LSU Health Sciences Center in 2012. At graduation, she was awarded the LSUHSC School of Allied Health Professions Chancellor's Award for scholarship, leadership, and professional excellence. Throughout her graduate studies at LSUHSC she was on faculty at River Parishes Community College and continues to teach courses each semester for RPCC.
Dr. Rushing began practicing as an extern with Creel Hearing Center in 2011 and continued working with Creel Hearing Center after graduating with her Au.D. She practiced with Creel Hearing Center in Metairie and Covington for five years. It was there that she cultivated her passion to help people hear. In 2016 upon relocating to Thibodaux, Dr. Rushing established Comprehensive Hearing Solutions in Houma, Louisiana. A native of St. James, Dr. Rushing is dedicated and passionate about serving Louisiana's Bayou region.
Dr. Rushing believes in delivering trustworthy, honest, professional hearing healthcare grounded in current research and best practices in the field of audiology. Dr. Rushing maintains professional membership with the Louisiana Academy of Audiology (LAA), American Academy of Audiology (AAA), Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), and the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and prides herself on receiving an abundance of continuing education. She has used her expertise to help numerous patients regain the joy in their lives. She can help you do the same.
Walter Rushing
Certified Audiology Assistant, Co-Owner
Walter earned his Audiologist’s Assistant certification in January 2022 from Nova Southeastern University. He joined Dr. Rushing in operating the practice in March 2019. Before joining Dr. Rushing, he worked as a staff accountant in both public and governmental accounting after earning a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Nicholls.
His goal is to assist Dr. Rushing in delivering the best hearing outcomes to patients.
