Dr. Sharp is trained to perform comprehensive hearing evaluations for all ages, hearing aid consultations, adjustments and repairs. Diagnostic Hearing Evaluations Each patient has a thorough case history taken and an otoscopic check of the ears is performed. The evaluation determines the hearing at different pitches, the type and severity of your loss, and how well words are understood in each ear. Dr. Sharp will then explain your test results. Together you will discuss your personal listening needs, and if benefits could be obtained with hearing aids or assistive listening devices. Middle Ear Evaluations This test measures how well the eardrums are moving and about the function of the bones and muscles of the middle ear. These tests will show if the system is functioning normally or a contributing cause of your hearing loss. Otoacoustic Emissions This test measures sound produced by the outer hair cells of the inner ear at several pitches to determine if it is functioning normally. This test is used in newborns and can also show signs of hearing loss earlier than standard testing. Hearing Aid Repairs Many repairs can be performed in the office while you wait. If more extensive repairs are needed, we can loan you an aid to wear while yours is at the manufacturer. Hearing Aid Adjustments The majority of today’s hearing aids are digital and are adjusted through the computer to process the sounds as realistically as possible.
