Brenene Brady

M.S., CCC-A

A health care professional with a Masters Degree in Audiology, a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-A) from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). Brenene is also a member of the American Academy of Audiology and hearing aid dispensing. She has worked in clinical settings, and volunteers her knowledge and time at local nursing homes.

Now with the Newborn hearing screening which is done before an infant can leave the hospital, we are able to identify any newborns which may have a hearing loss. Due to the state mandate which was enacted in 1999 we are now able to identify those newborns at an earlier age. Before the state of IL enacted this mandate, children were fortunate if they were identified with their hearing loss by the age of 3 years. At the age of 3 months this infant was fitted with hearing aids. She would be monitored every 2 to 3 weeks as she grows in order to determine if new ear molds or hearing aids are required. With the diagnosis forth this child will be able to have speech intervention and mainstream with other children in school. She will be treated much as a hearing child would be in a normal situation. Brenene Brady has been doing the Newborn hearing screenings at the Morris Hospital since January of 2006. If a newborn does not pass the initial screening they are then re-screened within approximately 2 weeks after that. Newborn screenings are not Brenene's only concentration. She takes great care to help those of all ages. From cerumen removal to following up after a cold or virus are comforting to all ages. Ear plugs are also a need whether it is for swimming or for protection that a musician may require. When hearing devices are in need, they may also be fitted on those who have a substantial loss. Those who come in for hearing aids find they have a choice in designs and styles. Hearing aids are no longer a conspicuous device. The hearing aid has evolved into various sizes and shapes. Colors are also a choice in the selection of the aid. Brenene has worked with many people and let them try a selection of hearing aids which best fit their need.

After arriving for your scheduled appointment with our Audiologist, a brief amount of paper work is required. Our Audiologist will then greet you and take your verbal case history. The patient's ears are examined and when necessary, ear wax is removed. After a complete hearing assessment, the results are explained thoroughly to the patient and their significant other. There is a wealth of information given, so it helps to have someone to refer to when making a decision. If the patient has any questions, the time is taken to provide answers. Depending on the patient's hearing loss an open air fit hearing aid can be programmed while the patient waits so that they may experience what amplification sounds like. A report along with a copy of the Audiogram will be sent to your primary care physician. Services which are provided with the purchase of hearing aids include: * Warranty * Fittings * Follow up visits * Consultations
