Regional Hearing & Balance - Idaho Falls

“Kim was incorrect in her testing. Rude in the way she talked about my son's hearing issues. Also she questioned me as a concerned parent not getting my son the care he needed. I would most definitely take my business to the Rexburg office they are much nicer and do a far better job!”

Official Response from Regional Hearing & Balance - Idaho Falls:
“Dear Anna, I appreciate your taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry that your appointment in the Idaho Falls office did not meet your expectations. Please let me assure you that it is never our intent to question a parent as to what they feel is the best care for their child. The evaluation protocols we use depend on the age of the child and can include checking the mobility and function of the eardrum (tympanometry), the ability of sound to cross back and forth in the brain (broadband acoustic reflexes), sending sounds into the hearing mechanism and tracking the response back at 12 different frequencies (otoacoustic emissions). All of these tests are objective, which means they do not require a response directly from the patient and can be obtained even from an infant. Subjective testing for older children requires responses from the child and include puretone audiometry, bone conduction audiometry and speech discrimination testing. We thoroughly test children according to the tests that are age- and ability-appropriate and determine a diagnosis using all data obtained, both objective and subjective. We give recommendations based on the diagnosis and if a hearing aid is recommended or if we have other medical concerns, we fax the results to the referring physician. We also call the referring physician to obtain a consensus on the recommendations and obtain a medical release. We are pleased to hear that you have been well served by our office in Rexburg. If there is anything we can do to help improve our image and services, please feel free to contact us directly. Once again I apologize for any undue concern I may have caused and I am committed to continued improvement. Kim Briggs, Audiologist”
