Kim Briggs

KIM BRIGGS The Regional Hearing and Balance is honored to have Kim Briggs as a member of our team. Kim specializes in pediatric audiology and has brought our pediatric services to a whole new level of excellence since she joined us in 2004. She is uniquely qualified to respond to the special requirements for evaluating this patient group. Her role as a mother and grandmother has given her a broad experience base upon which to build her professional work with the pediatric patient. She has a regional reputation in the testing of newborns with non-sedated ABR. Her expertise and reputation has lead to a major children’s hospital in Salt Lake City to refer to RHBC for non-sedated ABR. The company that designed this advanced “brain wave” equipment has recognized her unique ability by designating the Regional Hearing and Balance Center (RHBC) as a Beta test site for new advancements and has invited her to be a guest lecturer at national and international training events. Kim is also an active participant in establishing the State of Idaho’s infant toddler hearing screening protocol. Additional advanced testing techniques such as visual evoked response audiometry, otoacoustic emissions and multi frequency admittance audiometry are also utilized to give an in depth analysis of a child’s hearing capacity and overall health of the auditory (hearing) system. This information is essential for ruling out hearing loss as a cause for speech delay, determining if there is hearing loss, and if it is of a type that can be treated by your physician. Kim works closely with your physicians and school audiologists, where available. If the loss cannot be treated through medication or surgery, Kim uses the information from the tests to augment the hearing system through hearing aids so that language development and communication may continue as normal as possible. Kim also specializes in auditory processing disorders. This is where an individual’s ability to hear sounds is normal, but the ability of the brain to process these sounds is impaired. Part of Kim’s expertise is in identifying and working with these individuals.

Zackary Hale

Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA

Zack began his training for his career in audiology at Utah State. After practicing for 5 years with his Master’s degree in Audiology, he began his advanced degree and completed his Doctor of Audiology degree from Salus University of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2009. His clinical work has a heavy emphasis in hearing and balance diagnostics. His education and eight years experience fitting digital hearing instruments is a great benefit to patients for whom medical or surgical therapy to restore hearing is not an option. Dr. Hale works closely with your medical specialist and family physician to provide an exceptional level of health care for your balance and hearing needs. Zack is fluent in Spanish and manages the Idaho Falls office. He is a captain in the army reserve and presently serves as an audiologist in a Combat Support hospital. Zack has close ties to the Idaho Falls symphony. He is an active member of the American Academy of Audiology, American Speech and Hearing Association, American Balance Society, and Idaho Speech and Hearing Association. He has attended advanced training in balance diagnostics from Neurocom and Micro Medical. In 2006-2007 he received the American Academy of Audiology Scholar Award, which is awarded to recipients who consecutively demonstrate a dedication to the field of Audiology and a commitment to continued professional excellence. His commitment to continuing professional education will demonstrate itself in the lives of those who need his care. We are grateful that serving his home area of Star Valley, Wyoming was important enough to Zack that he was willing leave the big cities and medical practices to bring his expertise here to Idaho Falls. He enjoys being able to take time with his patients and swapping an occasional fish story.
