One City, One Future
The Department of Health’s Newborn Hearing Screening Program strives to ensure that all infants born in the District of Columbia get a newborn hearing screening before they are discharged from the hospital. Our highly trained clinical professionals administer the screenings to all infants and if they do not pass the initial and repeat screenings they will be evaluated and linked to hospitals, primary health care providers, public health workers and others for appropriate treatment. We also offer culturally competent support to families throughout the screening, diagnostic, and intervention stages to ensure all patients and families receive the care they need.
