Dr. Kessler specializes in diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss in both the adult and pediatric patient populations. He is an expert in hearing rehabilitation with a specialty in cochlear Implants and in the fitting of advanced digital hearing systems. Aside from his responsibilities to his patients and the practice, Dr. Kessler is an adjunct clinical instructor for The University of Connecticut, teaching a course to the doctoral students each year on Cochlear Implants and supervising students in his clinic. Dr. Kessler holds a Doctorate in clinical Audiology from The Arizona School of Health Sciences. Prior to completing his doctorate he did graduate work at The University of Connecticut, received a Masters Degree in Audiology for The University of Cincinnati and a Bachelors Degree from The University of Buffalo. Currently Dr Kessler serves as an editor for 2 online websites, Healthy Hearing, a website which has been designed for serving the educational needs of the hearing impaired consumer, and Audiology Online, a website for advancing the educational needs of other audiologists and hearing care professionals.
Dr. Burns specializes in the evaluation of profoundly hearing impaired individuals to determine cochlear implant candidacy as well as device programming and rehabilitation. She is also involved in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss and vestibular disorders. Dr. Burns obtained her Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her Doctorate of Audiology from Syracuse University. She completed her final clinical placement at the University of South Carolina Cochlear Implant Program working with infants, children, and adults. Dr. Burns is certified by both the American Academy of Audiology and the American-Speech-Language-Hearing-Association
Dr. Calhoun specializes in the diagnosis of hearing loss in both the adult and pediatric populations and treatment of hearing loss primarily in the adult population. She has experience working with many advanced digital amplification systems and assistive listening devices. She also specializes in disorders of the vestibular system and has assisted in supervising doctoral students in clinical placements. She has worked in California and Massachusetts before coming to Connecticut and holds a Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Florida and a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University. Dr. Calhoun is certified by the American Academy of Audiology, the American-Speech-Language-Hearing-Association, and the state of Connecticut.
The Audiology department of ENT Medical and Surgical Group, offers a full range of diagnostic audiologic services including comprehensive audiologic assessment, middle ear evaluation, Brainstem Evoked Response testing (ABR, BSER, ASSR), Otoacoustic Emission testing (OAE), Vestibular evaluation including ENG, Rotational Chair and Vestibular Evoked Potentials (VEMP) Tinnitus evaluation and management programs. Our rehabilitative services include the latest digital amplification as well as a full line of Assistive communication devices. These may include amplified telephones, television amplifiers and FM systems. We offer custom-made earmolds and ear protection devices designed for those exposed to harmful noise (such as musicians, hunters, factory/construction workers etc. We also offer custom molded “swim plugs” that prevent water from entering the ear canal. These plugs are useful for those who have water sensitivity, a hole in the eardrum, or for use with children who have PE-Tubes.
