What Can I Expect? Our audiologists will perform a thorough assessment of the hearing, beginning with a history interview. Questions will focus primarily on hereditary factors, exposure to workplace, military, or recreational noise, and medications prescribed for medical conditions. Audiologicial Evaluation After considering a patient's history and performing a visual inspection of the outer ear, the audiologist will perform an audiological evaluation composed of a series of tests. The results of the audiological evaluation are a critical factor in helping determine the need for hearing aids, and the type of hearing aids best suited for your hearing loss. The audiologist will review the results of your evaluation and provide various options and recommendations for remediation, if needed. What Kinds of Hearing Aids are Available? Hearing aids are available from a variety of manufacturers in a variety of sizes and shapes, from instruments that fit behind the ear to instruments that fit within the ear canal. Electronic circuitry has advanced significantly, allowing patients greater sound comfort and improved speech recognition in noisy situations. Digital and programmable hearing aids, which are adjusted via a computer connection, provide the most flexibility, allowing the audiologist to custom fit the response of the device to a specific hearing loss. Your audiologist will help you choose the best instrument according to your needs and your budget. Custom Products We offer a variety of custom ear products to meet your needs. These include earmolds and earpieces for noise protection, swimming, music, iPod , cell phone use and hunting. We also offer many types of assistive listening devices such as telephone amplifiers, personal FM systems, and TV listening devices. Bluetooth compatible devices are also available.
